The Geriatric Psychiatrist will provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment for older adult patients, including managing complex comorbid medical and cognitive conditions. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting psychiatric assessments, prescribing and monitoring psychopharmacologic treatments, providing psychotherapy as appropriate, and coordinating care with primary care providers, neurologists, social workers, and other members of the multidisciplinary team. The role involves developing individualized treatment plans, participating in case conferences, documenting care in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards, and contributing to quality improvement initiatives related to geriatric mental health. The psychiatrist will also serve as a clinical resource on geriatric behavioral health issues for staff, patients, and families.Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in Geriatric Psychiatry, including assessment and treatment of mood, anxiety, psychotic, and cognitive disorders in older adults.Strong foundation in Medicine and Psychiatry to manage psychiatric conditions in the context of complex medical comorbidities.Proficiency in providing comprehensive Psychiatric Care, including psychopharmacology, psychotherapy modalities appropriate for older adults, and interdisciplinary care coordination.Experience or training in Neuropsychiatry, particularly in the evaluation and management of neurocognitive disorders such as dementia and related behavioral symptoms.Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry; fellowship training in Geriatric Psychiatry strongly preferred.Current, unrestricted medical license (or eligibility) in Massachusetts and DEA registration.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams and engage effectively with patients, families, and caregivers.Commitment to ethical, patient-centered care, cultural competence, and evidence-based practice.Prior experience in hospital, outpatient, or long-term care settings serving older adults is highly beneficial.
