Global Trade Compliance & Customs DirectorSenior Leadership | Global Manufacturing | International Trade Compliance US Citizenship or Fully Executed Green Card is required.Take ownership of global trade compliance for an international manufacturing organization with operations across the U.S., Canada, Europe, China, and India.Reporting to the General Counsel & Secretary, this Director-level position will lead global strategy and execution across sanctions, export controls, customs compliance, import/export regulations, CTPAT, trade agreements, and international trade risk. You’ll work closely with executive leadership and teams across Legal, Finance, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Logistics, Engineering, Sales, and Service.What You'll LeadDevelop and execute global strategies for sanctions, export controls, customs, import/export compliance, and international trade regulationsOversee trade compliance programs across multiple business units and jurisdictions, including part tracking, jurisdiction and classification, end-use/end-user evaluations, and customer and supplier screeningLead global customs and trade agreement compliance, including CTPAT certification, security initiatives, and customs valuation strategiesDirect global import/export compliance and standardize trade processes across the U.S., Canada, EU, China, India, and other international marketsLead and develop trade compliance professionals across global operations and provide ongoing compliance training to Sales, Service, Operations, and executive leadershipImplement new legislative, sanctions, export control, customs, and regulatory requirements across the organizationManage relationships with customs brokers, logistics providers, trade consultants, software vendors, trade associations, government agencies, and outside counselLead trade compliance risk assessments, internal and external audits, customs audit preparation, government inquiries, and corrective actionsDevelop and maintain global operating procedures, documentation standards, recordkeeping requirements, and compliance verification processesServe as the primary contact for trade compliance technology and software systems, including operations, training, optimization, and developmentIdentify opportunities to improve and automate global trade compliance processes and technologyPartner with Legal and business leadership to update programs, policies, and processes as international trade requirements evolveWhat You Need10+ years of Trade Compliance experienceAt least 4 years in a senior leadership positionSignificant experience with global sanctions and export control managementDirect experience developing and implementing global trade compliance strategies and programsPrior customs compliance experience, preferably with leadership responsibilityExpert working knowledge of U.S., Canadian, and EU sanctions and export controlsKnowledge of customs laws, trade agreements, international trade regulations, customs valuation, and import/export requirementsExperience with jurisdiction and classification, end-use/end-user evaluations, and customer/supplier screeningExperience with CTPAT, customs audits, regulatory inquiries, compliance assessments, and trade risk managementExperience working with government agencies, customs authorities, export/sanctions authorities, customs brokers, and outside trade advisorsExperience leading and developing geographically dispersed teamsAdvanced proficiency with ERP systems, trade compliance software, customs documentation software, and EDI platformsWorking knowledge of international trade logistics and global customs requirementsAbility to communicate effectively with executive leadership and cross-functional teamsPreferred QualificationsAdvanced degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related fieldCertified Customs Specialist (CCS) designationAdditional international trade compliance certificationsLaw degree and/or relevant legal experienceKey Areas of ExpertiseGlobal Trade Compliance | Sanctions | Export Controls | Customs Compliance | Import/Export Compliance | CTPAT | Customs Valuation | Trade Agreements | Jurisdiction & Classification | End-Use & End-User Screening | Customer & Supplier Screening | Customs Audits | Trade Risk Management | ERP | Trade Compliance Software | Customs Documentation Systems | EDIThis is a senior-level opportunity for a trade compliance leader who wants broad international responsibility and the ability to influence how global trade compliance is managed across a complex manufacturing organization.
