Go & Java Backend Engineer (Russian speaking)

With STB Union, you can effortlessly manage your finances and transactions.Role DescriptionThis is a full-time Backend Engineer role at STB Union, offering flexible remote work arrangements. Candidates must have overlapping working hours with time zone GMT+3 for at least 6 hours daily.The work splits roughly 50/50 between two streams: maintaining and extending our existing system - a large Java monolith with microservices around it. Building a new platform from scratch on Go, Vue and PostgreSQL, AI-first with Claude Code. You would become the team's Go reference point while the team onboards you on Java and on a complex financial domain.Required Qualifications- 5+ years of backend engineering, including 3+ years of production Go- Genuine willingness to work in Java - roughly half the work is Java on a legacy codebase- Experience developing new features and architecting a codebase- AWS (ECS/SQS/RDS), PostgreSQL, Git (GitLab/GitHub), Docker- Daily use of AI coding tools, with full ownership and review of everything that ships- Prior experience working remotely in a distributed team- Fluent in Russian (C1) and English (B2) - both verbal and written- Experience in fintech or banking sectorsPreferred Qualifications- Experience with Java and Spring Boot (or Vert.x)- Experience with Vue 3 — the frontend of the new platform- Experience with Kubernetes, NATS or Kafka- Experience with more than one programming languageCore Responsibilities- Leading end-to-end feature delivery together with Product/QA/DevOps teams — you own the feature through design, implementation, tests, review and production- Building Go services for the new platform, plus Java features and integrations on the existing one- Designing scalable solutions for complex business problems and contributing to technical architecture decisions- Writing maintainable well-tested code with Claude Code- Participating in manual and AI code reviews and providing constructive feedback- Monitoring and maintaining production systems- Implementing best practices for security and performanceTech Stack: Go/Java/SpringBoot/Vert.x, AWS (ECS, SQS/SNS, S3, ElastiCache), PostgreSQL, Terraform, GitLab, Docker, K8s, Grafana, Angular/Vue 3, React Native. Language Requirement Note: This position requires fluency in Russian and English due to team composition and business requirements.
