Emirates Golf Club has an exciting vacancy for a Golf Course Superintendent within our Golf Course Maintenance Department.We are seeking an experienced professional to lead the maintenance, presentation, and agronomic management of our golf course and practice facilities, ensuring exceptional playing conditions and championship-level standards year-round.Purpose of the PositionThe Golf Course Superintendent is responsible for the overall management, maintenance and presentation of the golf course, practice facilities and associated club grounds.The role ensures the delivery of exceptional playing conditions through industry-leading agronomic practices, effective resource management and strategic planning.The Superintendent provides leadership to the Golf Course Maintenance team, oversees warm-season turfgrass management programs, coordinates tournament preparation activities and ensures all golf course assets are maintained to the highest standards.Key ResponsibilitiesCourse Maintenance & AgronomyDirect all golf course maintenance operations.Develop and implement agronomic programs to optimize turf health and course conditioning.Manage Bermuda and Paspalum turfgrass surfaces in accordance with industry best practices.Plan and execute annual Ryegrass overseeding programs, including establishment, maintenance and transition management.Monitor and maintain irrigation systems to ensure efficient water utilization.Implement integrated pest management (IPM) strategies.Ensure all environmental, health and safety standards are maintained.Course PresentationDeliver exceptional daily playing conditions across all golf course areas.Coordinate detailed course setup requirements.Maintain championship-level standards throughout the year.Develop seasonal maintenance schedules to maximize course quality and playability.Tournament PreparationLead all tournament preparation and execution activities.Coordinate course conditioning requirements for professional, amateur and member tournaments.Work closely with Golf Operations regarding course setup and event requirements.Ensure tournament presentation meets international standards for competitive play.Team LeadershipLead, motivate and develop the Golf Course Maintenance team.Establish clear performance expectations and operating standards.Conduct regular staff training and development programs.Promote a positive safety culture throughout the department.Manage workforce planning and resource allocation.Financial ManagementPrepare and manage annual operating budgets.Monitor expenditure and maintain strict cost control measures.Manage procurement processes for maintenance materials and equipment.Assist in preparing capital expenditure plans and project budgets.Operational Management ResponsibilitiesThe Golf Course Superintendent assumes responsibility for managing and maintaining:Golf courses.Practice facilities.Clubhouse grounds and landscaping.Irrigation systems.Maintenance equipment and workshop facilities.Agronomic testing and monitoring programs.Other golf operations properties as designated by Management.Additional ResponsibilitiesAssist with construction, renovation and reconstruction projects.Coordinate external contractors and consultants.Maintain accurate operational and agronomic records.Monitor inventory and equipment maintenance programs.Participate in strategic planning initiatives.Provide professional recommendations to Management on golf course improvement projects.Ensure compliance with local regulations and company policies.Employment StandardsThe successful candidate must demonstrate:Advanced knowledge of agronomy and turfgrass management practices.Comprehensive understanding of warm-season turfgrass management, particularly Bermuda and Paspalum species.Extensive experience in Ryegrass overseeding and seasonal transition management.Strong understanding of golf facility construction principles and methodologies.Exceptional leadership and team management skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.Sound Qualifications RequiredMinimum 5–10 years' experience in a similar role at a reputable golf facility.Degree, Diploma or Certificate in Agronomy, Turfgrass Management, Golf Course Maintenance or related discipline.Extensive tournament preparation experience.Proven experience managing Bermuda and Paspalum turfgrass surfaces.Demonstrated Ryegrass overseeding and transition management experience.Experience leading large multicultural workforces.Computer literate with strong English communication skills.Experience with irrigation, IPM and water conservation practices.Supportive
