Apply & track with Apply EdgeAbout the roleWe're looking for a Governance Specialist / Senior Business Analyst to build and operate data governance across our data estate, and to work with business teams to translate their needs into governance policies that are practical and enforceable. The role combines hands-on tooling work with requirements gathering and stakeholder management, sitting at the intersection of business, data, and governance. Because our environment spans multiple platforms, you'll help determine the right control for the right context rather than applying a single fixed approach.What you'll doBuild and operate data governance across cataloging, classification, lineage, glossary, and policy, using the platform best suited to each need (see stack below).Assess current data practices, identify gaps, and design governance components to address them.Gather requirements from business and data teams and translate them into governance policies, standards, and tool configuration.Define data ownership, stewardship, and Critical Data Elements (CDEs) across key domains.Establish data classification, sensitivity labels, access policies, and compliance controls (GDPR, DPDP, SOX, HIPAA, as applicable).Implement data quality rules — including profiling, validation, and KPI dashboards — and drive issues to resolution.Facilitate governance forums and working groups, and support internal users in adopting the framework.Partner with data engineering, security, and compliance teams to embed governance into day-to-day data pipelines.Our stackExperience with all of these is not expected; please indicate which you have worked with.Cataloging & governance: Microsoft Purview, Collibra, Alation, Atlan, InformaticaData platforms: Databricks (Unity Catalog), Snowflake (Horizon), Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse / ADFData security & DSPM: Concentric AI, BigID, Securiti, Immuta, VaronisQuality & observability: Monte Carlo, Soda, Great ExpectationsWhat you'll bring5+ years in data governance and/or business analysis, ideally with experience across both.Hands-on experience with at least one enterprise governance or cataloging tool (Purview, Collibra, Alation, Unity Catalog, or similar), and the ability to become proficient with others.Working knowledge of a modern data platform (Databricks, Snowflake, Fabric, or equivalent).Strong business analysis skills, including requirements gathering, documentation, and stakeholder management.Solid understanding of metadata management, data quality, MDM, and access/policy governance.Exposure to data security and DSPM tooling (Concentric, BigID, Immuta, or similar) is a strong advantage.Ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical stakeholders.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data, IT, or equivalent experience.Familiarity with Jira, Confluence, and Agile delivery.Nice to haveCertifications such as CDMP (DAMA), Microsoft or Databricks data certifications, or CBAP.Experience in [your industry — BFSI, healthcare, etc.]
