Graduate Geotechnical Engineer/Engineering Geologist

Mon Geotech is a specialist geotechnical consultancy, and we're looking for a graduate to join us in September 2027. You'll work directly with the founder on live projects and take part in every stage of the work, from desk studies and ground investigation to design and reporting.Because the business is small, you won't be kept on one narrow task. You'll see how projects run from start to finish. You'll also get one-to-one guidance on the technical side and on how a consultancy works day to day.What you'll doHelp plan and specify ground investigations, and review the factual data that comes backCarry out geotechnical calculations and design for foundations, retaining walls, slopes and earthworks, with checking and supportInterpret soil and rock parameters from site and laboratory testingPrepare desk studies, interpretive reports and design notesVisit sites to log, supervise and observe ground conditionsDevelop and use calculation tools, including spreadsheets and PythonSupport with other business activities such as invoicing, bidding, development of internal procedures and external communications.What we're looking forA degree in civil engineering, geology, engineering geology or a related subject (an MSc civil engineering, geotechnics or engineering geology is welcome but not required)A solid understanding of soil mechanics, or a clear interest in building oneCuriosity about how the ground behaves, and a willingness to ask questionsClear, careful written communicationA full UK driving licenceWhat we offerDirect, day-to-day mentoring from a chartered engineer (CEng MICE, RoGEP)Support towards professional qualification with the ICE or the Geological Society of LondonVaried work across a range of geotechnical problemsA chance to help shape the business as it growsAbout Mon GeotechMon Geotech is a geotechnical consultancy based in central Cardiff. It was founded in 2026 by Chris Seddon, a chartered civil engineer (CEng MICE) and UK Registered Ground Engineering Professional. Chris is currently the only person in the business.We provide geotechnical design across the life of a project, from early ground investigation through to detailed design.
