🚀 PhD Opportunity + RM2,000/Month Research Assistantship — SCALE-Q Project @ UTMThe SCALE-Q research team at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) is seeking a highly motivated candidate to pursue a full-time PhD while serving as a Graduate Research Assistant (GRA) on our active grant.Funding period: until 31 Aug 2028 (~24 months; extension beyond is subject to grant extension approval)Target start: October 2026 (Academic Session 2026/2027)What we offer:- 💰 Monthly GRA stipend of RM2,000 (grant-funded until Aug 2028)- 🎓 PhD fee assistance: up to RM3,000 per semester (grant-funded; full-time registration, Faculty of Computing, UTM)- 🧠 Research exposure: tensor networks, hybrid quantum-classical algorithms, quantum noise modelling, surface & stabilizer codes, fault-tolerant quantum computing- 🤝 Industry collaboration and high-impact (WoS/Scopus) publication opportunitiesScope of work: Support the development of a scalable quantum emulation framework, integration of noise models, fault-tolerant algorithm testing, benchmarking, and dissemination of results.Candidate requirements:- 🇲🇾 Open to Malaysian citizens only- Master's degree in Computer Science / Engineering / Physics / Mathematics or related fields, CGPA ≥ 3.67/4.00 (or other qualifications accepted by UTM); outstanding Bachelor's graduates (fast-track) are welcome to apply- Strong interest in quantum computing; proficient in Python / C++ programming- Solid foundations in linear algebra / quantum mechanics — an advantage- Experience with Qiskit / quantum simulators / tensor networks — a plus- Good English communication skills; willing to register full-time at UTMHow to apply:Send your CV, academic transcripts, and a one-page motivation letter to ismailfauzi@utm.my by 18 September 2026, with the subject line: "GRA Application SCALE-Q – [Name]".Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis — early applications are encouraged.
