Group General Counsel

Job PurposeThe role is responsible for providing sound and strategic legal counsel on all legal matters, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations to safeguard the group and its subsidiaries against potential legal exposure and liability. This role leads a wide range of legal matters including contract management, dispute resolution, and regulatory compliance, and assists in corporate governance to support organization’s goals and objectives.Key AccountabilitiesFormulate and lead the implementation of the Legal strategy to support the achievement of the company’s strategic objectives.Direct the development and oversee the implementation and maintenance/update of legal policies, procedures, and control from a legal standpoint.Develop, implement, and maintain/update a comprehensive contract management policy, ensuring all procedures for drafting, executing, and monitoring contracts adhere to relevant laws and regulations.Lead and manage the relationship with regulating bodies to ensure company’s compliance with local and international regulations, monitor changes in laws and regulations relevant to the company's operations, and advise on legal requirements and implications to mitigate legal risks.Present the company's legal positions effectively during court proceedings and providing legal support to employees involved in work-related legal cases.Oversee the preparation and execution of all legal documents required for the company's operations, ensuring compliance with legal standards.Provide the Group CEO and Board of Directors with regular updates on major legal adjustments, projects and ongoing litigations in order to receive their inputs and approval.Provide guidance on legal risks by offering proactive legal advice on critical issues and key decisions, identifying potential legal exposures, and delivering strategic recommendations to minimize risk and support business objectives in coordination with senior management and stakeholdersProvide legal guidance and oversight throughout the contract lifecycle.Manage and resolve legal disputes and claims including negotiations, settlements, and litigation proceedings, in collaboration with internal teams and external legal counsel.Advise the Compliance Officer in relation to compliance assessments and compliance checks to evaluate compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies, recommending corrective actions as necessary.Conduct legal update awareness sessions for relevant stakeholders in the Company.Lead and manage Group Legal staff and oversee their performance evaluation, training, and career development.Job Requirements Experience: Minimum of 15 years of relevant and technical experience, with at least 7 years in a leadership capacity.In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements relevant to the transportation industry in the UAE or similar public listed companies, including but not limited to laws governing capital markets, transportation services, labor regulations, data protection, and anti-corruption laws.Academic Qualifications:Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Law or any related field.MBA or Postgraduate Degree in related field is a plus.Licensed by the Legal Affairs Department of the Government of Dubai or licensed by a relevant Lawyers Society.
