Apply & track with Apply EdgeWe are seeking an accomplished procurement leader to establish and drive a centralized, high-performing procurement function across a large group organization.The ideal candidate will have managed a procurement portfolio of ₹5,000 Cr. or more into Heavy Engineering & Equipment Industries, with a strong track record in strategic sourcing, cost optimization, supply assurance and procurement transformation.Objective of the Role : The Group Purchase Head is responsible for developing and executing the overall procurement strategy across the group of companies. The role ensures the cost effective, timely and quality focused acquisition of raw materials, packaging materials, equipment, services and indirect spending while maximizing synergies, standardization, supplier performance and risk management across all the business units. The Group Purchase Head leads strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier partnerships, contract negotiations, procurement governance and supply chain risk mitigation to support the group’s financial and operational objectives. Key Responsibilities & Performance Parameters:Strategic Procurement Leadership✓ Develop and implement group-wide procurement strategies aligned with corporate objectives. ✓ Establish procurement policies, procedures, and governance frameworks across all business units ✓ Drive procurement transformation, digitalization, and process excellence initiatives. ✓ Identify opportunities for group-wide procurement consolidation and economies of scale. Strategic Sourcing & Cost Optimization:✓ Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for direct and indirect procurement categories. ✓ Develop annual cost reduction, value engineering, and productivity improvement programs. ✓ Negotiate high-value contracts and commercial agreements. ✓ Monitor global and local market trends, commodity movements, and supply availability. Supplier & Vendor Management:✓ Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers and partners. ✓ Develop preferred supplier programs across the group. ✓ Conduct supplier performance evaluations and audits. ✓ Ensure suppliers meet quality, sustainability, compliance, and delivery requirements. Procurement Operations Oversight:✓ Oversee procurement activities across all plants, subsidiaries, and business units. ✓ Ensure uninterrupted supply of materials, equipment, and services. ✓ Monitor procurement KPIs and operational performance. ✓ Resolve critical supply chain and procurement issues.Financial & Budget Management :✓ Manage procurement budgets and spending controls. ✓ Deliver annual procurement savings targets and working capital improvements. ✓ Analyze spend data and generate strategic procurement insights. ✓ Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.Risk Management & Compliance:✓ Develop procurement risk management frameworks. ✓ Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, ethical, and corporate requirements. ✓ Manage supplier risk, business continuity, and contingency planning. ✓ Ensure contract management and procurement controls are effectively implemented. Sustainability & ESG Initiative✓ Drive sustainable sourcing programs. ✓ Promote supplier compliance with ESG and responsible procurement standards. ✓ Support environmental, social, and governance objectives within the supply chain.Leadership Responsibilities:
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the Board and Executive Leadership Team.
- Partner with Operations, Manufacturing, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, Quality, and Commercial teams.
- Lead cross-functional teams to execute enterprise-wide procurement strategic initiatives.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and excellence.
- Mentor senior purchase leaders of the group and build leadership capabilities across the organization.
- Ensure alignment between business strategy, capability development, and growth priorities.Qualification & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Production Engineering, Specialization in courses related to SCM, Procurement etc. will be preferred.
- 25+ years of experience in SCM and Procurement function.
- Minimum 8 –10 years in a senior procurement leadership role.
- Experience managing large procurement spend across multiple business units.
- Strong background in strategic sourcing, contract negotiation, and supplier management.
