Steelbound values creativity, consistency, and a commitment to delivering unforgettable products and service.Role Description The Head Brewer is a full-time, on-site role based at Steelbound Brewery & Distillery in Ellicottville, NY. This role is responsible for overseeing all brewing operations, including recipe development, production scheduling, brewing, cellaring, and packaging to ensure consistent quality and flavor profiles. Day-to-day tasks include supervising brewing staff, managing inventory and raw materials, monitoring fermentation and quality control, and maintaining brewing and cellar equipment in safe working order. The Head Brewer collaborates with ownership and front-of-house teams on new product releases, seasonal offerings, and special events, while ensuring adherence to safety standards and regulatory requirements. This role also involves tracking production data, optimizing processes, and supporting training to maintain high performance and a positive team culture.Qualifications Experience in professional brewing or distilling, including recipe development, production planning, and quality assurance.Strong knowledge of brewing science, fermentation, sanitation practices, and equipment operation and maintenance.Demonstrated ability to lead and train a production team, manage workflows, and uphold safety and compliance standards.Effective organizational and communication skills, with capacity to coordinate across production, taproom, and management.Ability to perform the physical demands of brewery work (lifting, standing, operating equipment) in a fast-paced environment.Familiarity with inventory management, record keeping, and basic production-related reporting and cost awareness.Previous experience in a craft brewery or distillery and relevant brewing certifications or education are beneficial.
