Team members join a mission-driven environment that values innovation, collaboration, and measurable social impact.Role Description The Head of Linguistics is a full-time, on-site role based in New Delhi. This position leads the design and refinement of language-learning frameworks, curricula, and assessment tools that support improved literacy and communication outcomes for students in diverse linguistic contexts. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting research on language acquisition and multilingual education, developing linguistically informed instructional materials, and collaborating with academic experts and government partners.The role also involves guiding teacher training content related to language, ensuring culturally responsive and inclusive approaches, and monitoring the effectiveness of language-focused interventions through data analysis and field feedback. The Head of Linguistics will manage a small team, provide strategic direction for linguistic initiatives, and contribute to proposals, reports, and presentations that communicate impact to internal and external stakeholders.QualificationsAdvanced expertise in linguistics, applied linguistics, or language education, preferably supported by a master’s degree in a relevant field.Experience in curriculum design, language assessment, and development of instructional materials for multilingual or diverse student populations.Strong research and analytical skills, including the ability to design studies, interpret data, and translate findings into practical program improvements.Demonstrated ability to collaborate with educators, policymakers, and cross-functional teams, with strong written and oral communication skills.Prior experience working in K–12 education, large-scale education reform, or social impact organizations is highly desirable.Proven leadership and team management capabilities, including mentoring staff and coordinating multiple projects and timelines.Familiarity with government school systems, educational policy, and community engagement in India or similar contexts is an advantage.Commitment to equity, inclusion, and learner-centered approaches, with a willingness to spend time in schools and field settings as needed.Please write to rashmi@peopleforaction.org with your application.
