The campus is located at No. 5, Alfred Place, Colombo 03, Sri Lanka.Role Description The Head of Academics is a full-time, on-site role based in Colombo, responsible for overseeing the academic vision, strategy, and quality across all programs at Amrak Institute of Medical Sciences. This role includes leading curriculum development and review for nursing and allied health programs, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements, and aligning academic offerings with industry needs and international pathway requirements. The Head of Academics will manage and mentor faculty members, coordinate teaching schedules, monitor student performance and progression, and drive continuous improvement in teaching and assessment practices. Day-to-day responsibilities also include collaborating with hospital and external partners, supporting program expansion, leading academic governance processes, and contributing to student recruitment, guidance, and academic advising activities.QualificationsStrong academic leadership and management skills, including experience in overseeing faculty teams, academic governance, and curriculum planning.Expertise preferably in healthcare or medical education, nursing or allied health sciences, with a solid understanding of accreditation and regulatory frameworks.Proficiency in academic quality assurance, including program evaluation, learning outcome assessment, and continuous improvement of teaching and learning.Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and collaboration skills for working with hospital partners, regulatory bodies, and international institutions.Demonstrated ability in strategic planning, problem-solving, data-driven decision-making, and managing change within an educational setting.Relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g., Master’s or PhD) in Education, Nursing, Allied Health Sciences, or a related field; prior experience in a senior academic role is highly desirable.Commitment to inclusive, learner-centered education and the professional development of both students and faculty.Familiarity with blended and online learning methods, academic technology platforms, and contemporary pedagogical practices.
