Head of Accounting

For our partner, recognized as one of the leading providers of leisure and travel services in the local market, we are supporting the recruitment of a Head of Accounting, a strategic leadership role responsible for overseeing the full finance function and ensuring compliance with Romanian Accounting Standards (RAS), local tax regulations, and IFRS requirements. The position involves leading the accounting and finance team, managing month-end and year-end close processes, overseeing tax reporting and statutory compliance, and strengthening internal controls and financial governance.Key Areas of ResponsibilityTeam Leadership: Lead, train, and develop the accounting team, organizing professional training.Compliance & Reporting: Ensure accuracy of general ledger accounts and timely submission of tax declarations and statutory financial statements in compliance with Romanian law. Ensure that the processes related to the company’s group reporting are properly managed.Closing & Controls: Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and annual closings, ensuring internal controls are effective.Financial Oversight: Manage accounts payable, receivable, and cash disbursements.Interaction: Act as the primary contact for external auditors and authorities.Relevant Skills and Qualifications:Education: Bachelor's degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.Professional Qualification: CECCAR certification (Certified Expert Accountant) is typically required or considered a strong advantage.Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in financial accounting, including proven experience in leading and developing teams.Big Four Exposure: Previous experience within a Big Four firm is considered a significant assetTechnical Expertise: Strong knowledge of Romanian Accounting Standards (RAS), local tax legislation, and IFRS reporting requirements.Languages: Advanced English proficiency, both written and spoken.
