Head of Artificial Intelligence

Role Description The Head of Artificial Intelligence will provide strategic and technical leadership for AI initiatives that support PMLTC’s operational efficiency, grid reliability, and data-driven decision-making. This part-time remote role involves identifying high-impact AI opportunities across transmission planning, asset management, predictive maintenance, and system optimization. Daily responsibilities include defining AI roadmaps, leading the design and review of ML/AI models, overseeing data pipelines, and ensuring alignment with regulatory and cybersecurity requirements. The role also entails collaborating with engineering, IT, and management teams, setting standards for AI governance, mentoring technical staff, and evaluating external tools and vendors to integrate advanced AI capabilities into existing systems.QualificationsStrong foundation in Computer Science, including algorithms, data structures, software engineering practices, and system design.Expertise in Data Science, with skills in statistical modeling, machine learning, data analysis, and working with large-scale datasets.Proficiency in Pattern Recognition techniques for anomaly detection, fault classification, and signal or time-series analysis.Advanced experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP) for processing technical documentation, logs, and text-based data sources.Knowledge of Computer Vision methods for image and video analysis, such as equipment inspection, surveillance, or infrastructure monitoring.Experience leading AI or ML teams, defining technical strategy, and delivering production-grade AI solutions in complex environments.Hands-on proficiency with modern AI/ML tools and frameworks (e.g., Python, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn) and cloud or on-prem deployment practices.Understanding of power systems or industrial operations is highly beneficial, including familiarity with HVDC transmission or utility-scale infrastructure.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders and collaborate
