Head of Clinical & Scientific ResearchResonance Energy WearLondon | Hybrid / FlexibleSenior AppointmentAbout ResonanceResonance is building a new category of performance and recovery clothing powered by RESONANCE™ TECHNOLOGY.We are making a significant investment into understanding, testing and scientifically validating our technology.With research already underway, we are now looking for an experienced scientific and clinical research leader to take ownership of our scientific strategy and help build a world-class evidence base around RESONANCE™ TECHNOLOGY.The RoleThis is a senior role for someone who has already led scientific or clinical research programmes.We want someone capable of looking at our existing technology and evidence and determining:What is happening? Why is it happening? How do we measure it? And what research is required to demonstrate it robustly?You will take responsibility for developing our scientific roadmap, overseeing studies and external research partners, and building the evidence required to support the long-term development of Resonance.Key ResponsibilitiesOwn and develop the scientific and clinical research strategy for RESONANCE™ TECHNOLOGYCritically review our existing research, testing and scientific hypothesesLead investigation into potential mechanisms of actionDetermine appropriate biomarkers, endpoints and testing methodologiesDesign and oversee rigorous human studies and clinical researchSelect and manage universities, CROs, laboratories and specialist research partnersEnsure studies are appropriately designed, controlled and statistically robustInterpret results and determine subsequent research prioritiesBuild a structured programme of independent validationDevelop a strategy for peer-reviewed research and publicationSupport the development of evidence for future medical and clinical applicationsWork alongside product, regulatory and leadership teamsEnsure scientific and commercial claims accurately reflect the available evidenceAdvise the board and leadership team on scientific opportunities, risks and investment prioritiesExperience We’re Looking ForThis is not an entry-level research position.We are looking for someone with significant experience leading scientific or clinical research.Ideally, you will have:PhD, MD or equivalent advanced scientific/clinical experience8+ years of relevant scientific or clinical research experienceExperience leading human research or clinical studiesA strong understanding of study design, controls, endpoints, biomarkers and statisticsExperience managing external laboratories, CROs, universities or research institutionsExperience taking research from hypothesis through study design, execution, analysis and publicationA strong publication record or demonstrable involvement in peer-reviewed researchExperience working with innovative technologies where the mechanism of action required investigationExperience within medical devices, human physiology, sports science, rehabilitation, biomedical science, neuroscience, biophysics or related disciplinesExperience building evidence to support regulatory, medical-device or healthcare applications would be particularly valuable.The PersonWe are looking for someone scientifically rigorous, commercially aware and naturally curious.You should be comfortable challenging assumptions and telling the leadership team when the evidence does or does not support a hypothesis.We are not looking for someone to prove a predetermined conclusion.We want an experienced scientist who can independently determine the right questions to ask and build the research programme required to answer them.The OpportunityResonance is at an unusual point where the commercial business, product development and scientific programme are developing simultaneously.The person joining us will have the opportunity to shape the scientific foundation of the company and influence a substantial programme of future research.Our longer-term ambition is to build a significant independent evidence base around RESONANCE™ TECHNOLOGY and explore applications across performance, recovery, medical and other future verticals.We are open to discussing full-time, fractional or senior advisory arrangements depending on the individual.ApplyingPlease apply with your CV or LinkedIn profile and a short introduction covering:Your experience leading clinical or scientific research programmesExamples of studies or research programmes you have personally ledYour experience investigating mechanisms of action or novel technologiesAny experience developing evidence for medical, regulatory or commercial applicationsWhy the opportunity at Resonance interests you
