The role is responsible for ensuring that Whizmo operates in accordance with applicable Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) regulations and supervisory expectations, UAE laws, internal governance requirements, and relevant international good practices. The Head of Risk and Compliance will develop and execute an integrated Risk and Compliance strategy aligned with Whizmo’s business model, regulatory obligations and approved risk appetite.Key Responsibilities:Lead and maintain Whizmo’s Risk and Compliance framework, ensuring alignment with CBUAE requirements, UAE laws, internal governance standards and approved risk appetite.Provide independent advice, and oversight to the CEO, Senior Management and Board on material risk, compliance and regulatory matters.Oversee enterprise risk management, including risk assessments, risk appetite, KRIs, control effectiveness, emerging risks and remediation plans.Maintain an effective regulatory compliance framework, including regulatory change management, compliance monitoring, breach management and regulatory reporting.Provide oversight of AML/CFT/CPF, sanctions and financial crime risks, working closely with the MLRO and relevant control functions.Oversee operational risk, business continuity, technology, cybersecurity, data protection, consumer protection and conduct risk.Provide independent oversight of outsourcing and third-party risk, including due diligence, risk assessment, ongoing monitoring and regulatory requirements.Ensure Risk and Compliance review and challenge of new products, services, partnerships, systems and material business changes.Lead engagement with the CBUAE and other regulatory authorities, including inspections, supervisory reviews, regulatory requests and remediation commitments.Deliver clear and timely Risk and Compliance reporting to Senior Management and the Board, highlighting material exposures, breaches, trends and required actions.Develop and maintain appropriate policies, frameworks, procedures and governance standards, ensuring identified weaknesses are tracked to closure.Lead and develop the Risk and Compliance team while promoting a strong organisational culture of integrity, accountability and prudent risk management.Requirements:Key Skills:Strong analytical and risk assessment skillsKnowledge of operational and financial risks in fintech/digital paymentsBasic understanding of UAE regulatory environment (e.g., Central Bank regulations)Qualifications & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in law, Finance, Risk Management, Business, or a related field7-10 years of experience in a risk, audit, or compliance role (preferably in financial services or fintech)Required Certificate CAMS or ICA or equivalent as per CBUAE requirements.Certification (or progress toward) in risk (e.g., CRMA, FRM, ISO 31000) is an advantage.Core Competencies;Regulatory Expertise – Strong knowledge of CBUAE regulations, UAE financial services requirements and applicable international standards.Enterprise Risk Management – Ability to identify, assess, monitor and manage key financial, operational, technology, compliance and reputational risks.Compliance Leadership – Proven ability to establish and oversee effective compliance frameworks, monitoring programmes and regulatory controls.Governance & Board Reporting – Strong capability in preparing clear, concise and decision-oriented reporting for Senior Management and the Board.Regulatory Engagement – Confidence and credibility in managing regulatory inspections, supervisory engagements and remediation programmes.Financial Crime Risk Management – Strong understanding of AML/CFT/CPF, sanctions, customer risk management and transaction monitoring controls.Operational & Third-Party Risk – Knowledge of operational resilience, business continuity, outsourcing and third-party risk management.Technology & Information Risk – Understanding of technology, cybersecurity, information security and data protection risks within digital financial services.Strategic & Analytical Thinking – Ability to assess complex issues, identify emerging risks and provide practical, risk-based recommendations.Leadership & People Management – Ability to lead, develop and motivate a high-performing Risk and Compliance team.Independent Challenge & Judgement – Ability to provide objective challenge and escalate material concerns where required.Communication & Stakeholder Management – Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and collaborate across functions.Ready to Join the Whizmo Team?At Whizmo, we’re passionate about innovation, collaboration, and making a meaningful impact.
