Head of Compliance – Hong Kong

About the Business Our client is an institutional digital assets trading platform expanding into Hong Kong. The business is well-backed and growing, with a focus on sophisticated institutional trading. The firm is building out its regional presence, including pursuing relevant securities and futures licensing in Hong Kong. The Role The firm is seeking a senior compliance professional to serve as a Responsible Officer and build the Hong Kong compliance function from the ground up. This is a foundational hire — you will help establish the local regulatory framework and compliance infrastructure as the business scales in the region. Key Responsibilities Act as a Responsible Officer for the firm's regulatory licence application(s) in Hong Kong Lead the end-to-end licensing process, including regulatory liaison with local authorities Build and establish compliance policies, procedures, and controls suited to an institutional trading/market infrastructure business Advise on market and exchange-related regulatory requirements Partner closely with a global compliance team as part of a small, tightly connected function Operate as a hands-on, working compliance officer rather than a purely oversight role Support the business as it scales its institutional trading footprint in the region Candidate Profile Strong Hong Kong regulatory experience, ideally including relevant securities/futures licensing exposure Exposure to market infrastructure, clearing, or exchange-related environments Experience within securities, futures, broker-dealer, or institutional trading environments Direct digital asset experience is preferred but not essential — strong regulatory expertise with the ability to learn a new product offering quickly will be considered Comfortable operating without significant support infrastructure, building processes from the ground up, and wearing multiple hats Able to work independently while remaining highly collaborative across a global team Best suited to candidates who enjoy an entrepreneurial, lean environment over a heavily resourced institutional setup We regret to inform that only shortlisted candidates would be contacted.
