Head of Contract Manufacturing, NAM Procurement

Our partner is looking for a Head of Contract Manufacturing, NAM Procurement based in the United States.This is a strategic procurement leadership role responsible for shaping contract manufacturing and tolling strategies across North America. You will lead a complex category with significant influence over cost, quality, service, supply continuity, and overall business performance. The role combines strategic sourcing, supplier management, commercial negotiations, risk mitigation, and cross-functional leadership. You will partner closely with engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain, finance, legal, and project teams to build resilient and competitive supply strategies. A key focus will be optimizing Total Cost of Ownership while supporting working capital, operational efficiency, and long-term growth. You will also lead and develop sourcing professionals while driving continuous improvement across the procurement function. This fully remote opportunity is well suited to an experienced procurement leader who thrives in complex, collaborative, and fast-changing environments.AccountabilitiesDevelop and execute North American contract manufacturing and tolling sourcing strategies in partnership with key stakeholders, delivering cost savings, operational efficiencies, and sustainable competitive advantage.Lead all procurement activities associated with contract manufacturers and tollers across multiple business units, ensuring quality, cost, service, and supply performance targets are achieved.Build, maintain, and strategically manage supplier relationships to ensure reliable supply, strong commercial performance, and continuous improvement.Identify, evaluate, qualify, and negotiate with new and existing suppliers to secure favorable commercial terms, capabilities, quality standards, and delivery performance.Establish supplier performance metrics and KPIs, monitor results, and implement improvement initiatives while ensuring alignment with ethical, legal, regulatory, and environmental requirements.Lead and develop a team of sourcing professionals through coaching, performance management, capability building, and clear strategic direction.Partner with engineering and project teams on new product development and introductions, developing procurement strategies and sourcing plans where appropriate.Conduct and facilitate make-versus-buy analyses to inform insourcing and outsourcing decisions and improve customer service and supply chain performance.Strengthen and standardize RFQ processes by incorporating relevant technical, stakeholder, and end-user input into sourcing evaluations and decisions.Manage contract performance after placement, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and identifying opportunities or requirements for amendments.Develop and implement supply chain risk mitigation strategies to minimize disruptions and strengthen business continuity.Conduct market intelligence and industry analysis to identify sourcing opportunities, emerging risks, supplier developments, and changes in the global procurement landscape.Ensure procurement policies and processes are appropriately aligned across country, regional, and global levels.Support business working capital objectives through effective sourcing and supplier strategies.Collaborate with legal, compliance, finance, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, and other functions to ensure procurement decisions are commercially sound and compliant.Manage supplier selection and qualification processes while ensuring vendors meet required quality, pricing, delivery, and capability standards.Promote continuous improvement and the adoption of procurement best practices across the sourcing organization.Partner with finance to develop and manage procurement-related budgets and forecasts.Use data, analytics, and market insights to identify trends, evaluate opportunities, and make informed strategic sourcing decisions.RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, a technical discipline, Business, or a related field; an MBA is preferred.10+ years of experience in supply chain management, sourcing/procurement, and leading projects and teams.5+ years of relevant experience in procurement and/or manufacturing environments with direct experience managing contract manufacturers.Demonstrated experience developing category strategies, including SWOT-style assessments and analysis of supplier markets and supply bases.Proven experience making make-versus-buy decisions that have influenced supply chain strategy and delivered measurable customer service or operational improvements.Strong commercial and negotiation skills, with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain productive, strategic supplier relationships.Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing direct reports in complex business environments.Demonstrated success delivering cost savings, operational efficiencies, and improved sourcing performance, including experience developing insourcing capabilities.Strong analytical skills, with the ability to evaluate complex data, identify trends, assess risks, and develop data-driven procurement strategies.Solid understanding of ethical, legal, regulatory, and environmental considerations within sourcing and supply chain management.Experience with project purchasing, contract negotiation and execution, supplier management, and procurement risk management.Knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and tools, including 5S, Value Stream Mapping (VSM), Kaizen, and KPIs.SAP experience is preferred.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate technical concepts, findings, recommendations, and business implications effectively.Strong decision-making, problem-solving, influencing, and facilitation skills, including the ability to guide group discussions and achieve stakeholder alignment.Ability to work effectively across functions while balancing budget, schedule, operational requirements, and available resources.Highly organized and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through and the ability to manage multiple priorities and changing deadlines.Action-oriented and collaborative, with the ability to establish strong relationships with internal stakeholders, customers, suppliers, and vendors.Ability to influence stakeholders, encourage new ways of thinking, drive behavioral change, increase engagement, and improve processes.Ability to learn quickly and operate effectively in a challenging, complex, and evolving environment.BenefitsCompetitive compensation ranging from $123,690 to $181,412, plus discretionary bonuses.Compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.Fully remote work opportunity within the United States.Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.401(k) retirement plan.Opportunities for professional growth, learning, and career development.Opportunity to work in a strategic leadership role with broad cross-functional and business impact.Exposure to complex global sourcing, contract manufacturing, supplier strategy, and supply chain transformation initiatives.How Jobgether WorksWe use an AI-powered matching process to ensure your application is reviewed quickly, objectively, and fairly against the role's core requirements.
