About the RoleWe are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Energy & Infrastructure to lead the development, management, and optimization of our energy and charging infrastructure across Zimbabwe. The role will be responsible for ensuring reliable and cost-effective energy supply to battery swap stations, driving renewable energy integration, managing grid connections, and overseeing infrastructure expansion to support the growth of our electric mobility operations.The successful candidate will possess strong expertise in energy systems, telecommunications infrastructure, battery storage technologies, contractor management, and renewable energy solutions, with a focus on building scalable and sustainable energy networks.Key ResponsibilitiesEnergy Supply & Infrastructure ManagementLead the planning, deployment, and management of energy infrastructure supporting battery swap stations across Zimbabwe.Ensure consistent, reliable, and efficient energy supply to all operational sites.Develop infrastructure strategies aligned with business growth and expansion plans.Oversee the design, construction, commissioning, and maintenance of infrastructure assets.Solar Integration & Renewable Energy SolutionsDevelop and implement solar energy integration strategies for swap stations and operational facilities.Identify opportunities to increase renewable energy usage and reduce dependence on conventional grid power.Evaluate and implement hybrid energy systems combining grid, solar, and battery storage technologies.Monitor performance and return on investment of renewable energy initiatives.Battery Storage & Grid ConnectivityLead the design and deployment of battery energy storage systems (BESS).Manage relationships with utilities and regulatory bodies to ensure timely grid connections and compliance.Optimize energy storage systems to improve operational efficiency and energy reliability.Ensure infrastructure is scalable to support future network expansion.Energy Cost OptimizationDevelop and implement strategies to reduce energy costs across the infrastructure network.Monitor energy consumption, tariff structures, and operational efficiencies.Identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and alternative energy sourcing.Provide regular reporting and recommendations on energy performance and cost-saving initiatives.Telecommunications Energy Network DevelopmentSupport the design and implementation of telecommunications energy infrastructure where required.Leverage best practices from telecom tower energy management, backup systems, and remote site operations.Ensure energy infrastructure supports connectivity and operational continuity across all locations.Contractor & Vendor ManagementManage contractors, consultants, EPC companies, and service providers throughout project lifecycles.Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.Establish and enforce safety, quality, and performance standards.Conduct contractor performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.Second-Life Battery ProjectsAssess opportunities for second-life battery applications and energy storage solutions.Develop strategies for battery repurposing and sustainability initiatives.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to evaluate the technical and commercial viability of second-life battery projects.Support the organization's long-term circular economy and sustainability objectives.Compliance, Safety & GovernanceEnsure all infrastructure projects comply with local regulations, environmental standards, and health and safety requirements.Maintain strong governance processes for project execution and operational management.Develop risk mitigation plans for energy and infrastructure operations.Qualifications & ExperienceBachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Renewable Energy, Telecommunications Engineering, Infrastructure Management, or a related field.Master's Degree is an added advantage.Minimum 8-10 years of relevant experience in energy infrastructure, power systems, telecommunications infrastructure, renewable energy, or utility operations.Proven experience managing solar energy projects and battery energy storage systems.Strong understanding of grid connections, utility operations, and power distribution systems.Experience managing large-scale infrastructure projects and contractor networks.Exposure to second-life battery applications and energy storage technologies is highly desirable.Experience working within mobility, telecommunications, utilities, renewable energy, or infrastructure sectors is preferred.
