Apply & track with Apply EdgeThis is a strategic role based in Madrid for an IPP in the renewable energy sector, as part of its “route to market” strategy.This is a new entrepreneurial role at the heart of their Energy Management transformation. The successful candidate will be responsible for building a best-in-class Front Office capability covering the commercialisation, trading and optimisation of their renewable energy assets, while developing the capabilities, systems and market relationships required to progressively bring Route-to-Market activities in-house.Main dutiesDevelop and lead the company's Route-to-Market strategy, defining the optimal commercialisation and market participation model for the company portfolio.Assess and implement different Route-to-Market strategies across technologies, markets and asset profiles, including PPAs, merchant exposure, hedging, baseload and profile management.Define the evolution from third-party market representation towards an increasingly in-house Energy Management and trading capability.Identify new revenue opportunities arising from changing market dynamics, including hybridisation, BESS, ancillary services and other flexibility products.Build, lead and develop the Front Office team, establishing the organisation, capabilities, processes and governance required to operate a professional energy trading and optimisation function.Develop talent and progressively scale the team in line with the growth of the portfolio and international expansion.Oversee day-ahead and intraday market strategies, balancing, nominations and other relevant market activities.Develop and implement hedging strategies to manage price, volume, shape and basis risks.Establish appropriate KPIs to measure capture price, realised revenues, trading performance and value creation.Work closely with the wider Energy Management team to establish the infrastructure required for in-house Route-to-Market activities.Define requirements for trading systems, forecasting, optimisation, data, risk management and market operations.Ensure the Front Office operates within an appropriate framework of controls, governance and regulatory compliance.Coordinate with Middle Office, Back Office, Finance, Risk, Legal and IT to establish robust end-to-end processes.Develop the roadmap for extending the Route-to-Market model into relevant European and international markets.Your profileUniversity degree in Engineering, Economics, Business Administration, Mathematics, Physics or a related quantitative discipline.A Master's degree in Energy, Finance, Economics, Engineering or a related field will be highly valued.Additional qualifications in energy markets, financial markets, risk management or trading will be considered an advantage.Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to understand complex market dynamics and translate them into commercial decisions.Fluency in English and Spanish is required.Significant experience in power trading, energy management, portfolio optimisation or Route-to-Market.Strong understanding of wholesale electricity markets, particularly the Spanish power market.Proven experience developing and executing commercialisation and hedging strategies for renewable assets.Experience managing market risk, portfolio exposure and trading performance.Demonstrated ability to build and lead teams and develop new capabilities from the ground up.Why join us?A positive, collaborative, and inclusive working environment.The opportunity to join an experienced team at the forefront of a pioneering and rapidly growing sector.The chance to work for an established international company with a strong and competitive market position.A dynamic, agile, and entrepreneurial working environment.An international and multidisciplinary team, fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing.A competitive compensation package.Private health insurance.A flexible benefits package.Flexible working hours to support a healthy work-life balance.Opportunities to contribute to cross-functional projects and collaborate with teams across the organisation.Our client is an established international company operating in the renewable energy sector and playing an active role in the global energy transition.The company operates across the clean energy value chain, covering project development, construction, operations, maintenance, and energy management.
