If you value ownership, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want to see the impact of your work without getting slowed down by bureaucracy, we are excited to meet you.The Purpose of the Role●     Take full ownership of the engineering department's people and delivery leadership (app. 15 people)●     Grow the team's leadership capacity — clearer ownership, more people able to lead●     Partner closely with our CTPO and Chief Architect on technical strategy and execution●     Direct the engineering team to attain the company's strategic goals●     Set the direction for how AI is adopted and implemented across engineering, embedding it into everyday tools and workflows rather than treating it as a side experiment●     Raise the technical, delivery and quality bar across the whole engineering department, and set the tone for its culture●     Establish and maintain engineering-wide standards, practices and ways of workingWhat You Will DoYou would be working with PHP 8 / Symfony 7, Doctrine ORM, Apache Kafka, MySQL (AWS RDS), Next.js, React, TypeScript, and Python.●     Take over line management and day-to-day leadership of the engineering teams●     Evolve how the teams are organised as we grow — clearer ownership, defined lead roles, less single-person dependency●     Build strong people-management practices across the department: regular 1:1s, feedback, performance and career development●     Identify, develop and promote future technical leads and managers●     Coordinate with other functions to ensure smooth cooperation and alignment in priorities and resources●     Provide support and guidance to business partners on expected product and platform changes●     Establish and enforce technical standards, code quality and delivery practices across the department●     Own the technical hiring bar and process for the department, in cooperation with HR●     Stay hands-on and technically credible — able to go deep on architecture and code when needed, review decisions, and personally unblock teams●     Build on the AI tooling the team already uses and push it further — from coding assistants today to agentic workflows as part of the standard delivery process●     Retain talent within the organization through development and promotion●     Continuously raise engineering excellence through code reviews, mentoring and setting the technical example for the departmentCandidate ProfileEducation:●     University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field — mandatoryExperience:●     10+ years of experience in technology roles●     5+ years in a senior leadership position, at European scale, in a remote work environment●     Proven track record restructuring, organizing and running complex engineering organizations (infrastructure, architecture, full-stack delivery teams)●     Experience building and scaling both teams and platforms●     A seasoned, hands-on operator who has personally built and shipped software, not only managed it from a distance●     Fintech industry background is a plusKnowledge and Skills:Native or fluent Czech/Slovak (spoken and written)●     Strong ownership and work ethic●     Excellent leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams●     Excellent communication skills, able to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders●     Strong project management skills, able to oversee multiple projects simultaneously●     Strong strategic thinking, able to align technology initiatives with business goals●     A very strong, proven manager and organization-builder●     Track record of developing engineering managers and reducing key-person risks within a team●     Uses AI-assisted development daily and understands its failure modes — where it accelerates a team, and where it quietly erodes code quality●     Analytical mindset, able to conduct technological analysis and research●     Deep knowledge of software development, IT infrastructure and cybersecurity●     Strong understanding of product development lifecycles and methodologies●     Professional-level EnglishHow to ApplyPlease send your CV.
