قدّم وتابع مع أبلاي إيدجThe Head of Department (EMS) is responsible for leading the English, Mathematics, and Science programs for Year 1 and Year 2, ensuring high-quality teaching, effective curriculum delivery, and positive student learning outcomes. The role involves overseeing teachers within the department, providing guidance, conducting performance reviews, monitoring assessment data, and ensuring alignment with school policies and academic goals.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES1. Academic Leadership● Lead curriculum planning, development, and implementation for English,Mathematics, and Science in Years 1 & 2.● Ensure teaching aligns with the school’s vision, mission, and educationalstandards.● Oversee assessment practices, including formative and summative assessments.2. Staff Management & Support● Supervise, mentor, and appraise EMS teachers in Years 1 & 2.● Identify and coordinate professional development needs for the department.● Ensure consistent teaching standards across the team.3. Curriculum & Resources● Review and update schemes of work and lesson plans regularly.● Manage and recommend resources, textbooks, and teaching aids.● Integrate digital learning tools where appropriate.4. Quality Assurance & Data Monitoring● Monitor student progress through data analysis and provide targeted supportwhere needed.● Conduct classroom observations and provide constructive feedback.● Prepare departmental reports for school leadership.5. Collaboration & Communication● Work closely with the Head of Primary, other HODs, and support staff.● Communicate effectively with parents regarding academic matters whenrequired.● Represent the EMS department in meetings and school events.QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE● Bachelor’s degree in Education or relevant subject area (English, Mathematics,Science).● Teaching qualification (PGCE, B.Ed, or equivalent).● Minimum 5 years of teaching experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership rolepreferred.● Strong knowledge of international curriculum standards (Cambridge, British, orequivalent).● Proven ability to lead a team and manage departmental operations.● Proficiency in using educational technology for teaching and administration.KEY RELATIONSHIPS● Vice Principal – Primary, Primary Teachers, Other HODs, Academic Support Staff.● Parents, Educational Resource Providers, External Assessors.CORE COMPETENCIES● Ability to inspire, guide, and develop teaching staff.● Strong knowledge of English, Mathematics, and Science curricula for lowerprimary.● Clear and professional verbal and written communication.● Effective planning, time management, and prioritisation.● Ability to address challenges constructively and proactively.● Openness to curriculum changes, technology integration, and diverse learningneeds.PERFORMANCE INDICATORS● Achievement of departmental academic targets.● Positive improvement trends in student assessment data.● Consistent quality in teaching delivery as observed in lesson evaluations.● Timely completion of curriculum plans, reports, and reviews.● Effective staff development and retention within the department.● Positive feedback from students, parents, and school leadership.
