Head of Finance & Accounting (Leiter Finanzen & Rechnungswesen) | VC-Backed Cloud Scale-Up | Munich, Germany / HybridThe ClientHarmonic is partnering with a VC-backed German cloud software company. It has secured multiple multi-million framework contracts (Rahmenverträge) among the largest ever awarded to a European startup, and is now using them to grow and expand across Europe. The business is on a clear path to breakeven without needing to raise. The team is growing quickly and revenue is set to more than double next year.The RoleReporting to the CFO, a former software CFO with a successful exit behind them, the Head of Finance & Accounting will own accounting (Buchhaltung), financial operations and group reporting end to end.The CFO leads strategy, FP&A, legal and HR; what they need alongside them is the accounting expert, someone who sets the direction rather than waiting for it.The business is expanding internationally and is going through its first voluntary audit (freiwillige Abschlussprüfung). Your immediate priorities are a complete monthly reporting package for investors, a clean year-end close (Jahresabschluss) and a group view that ties across tax advisors, auditors and internal systems. This is a hands-on leadership role: you will lead an existing finance team member, shape the function around you and own every external finance relationship.Key Responsibilities

• Own the monthly close (Monatsabschluss) and deliver accurate management reporting (BWA/Management Accounts) for the board and investors
• Lead the year-end close and statutory accounts under HGB (Jahresabschluss nach HGB), and run the first voluntary audit and every audit after it
• Build consolidated group reporting (Konzernabschluss/Konzernreporting) across international entities
• Own tax and compliance across the group (Umsatzsteuer, Körperschaftsteuer, Verrechnungspreise), and manage relationships with tax advisors (Steuerberater), auditors (Wirtschaftsprüfer) and banks
• Run financial operations, including accounts payable (Kreditorenbuchhaltung), accounts receivable (Debitorenbuchhaltung), billing and cash and liquidity management
• Ensure revenue from large public-sector contracts is accounted for and reported correctly as they ramp up
• Select and implement the tools the function is missing, and automate processes ahead of scale
• Support the CFO with FP&A and Controlling.
• Lead and develop the finance team, and partner with the CFO on planning and funding-round due diligenceEssential Experience
• A strong accounting background with formal training, for example through audit, the Bilanzbuchhalter or Steuerberater route, or equivalent
• Hands-on HGB expertise across month-end and year-end close, statutory accounts and audit
• Day-to-day working experience of DATEV
• Experience owning accounting and reporting end to end, ideally in a startup, scale-up or growing mid-sized business (Mittelstand)
• The confidence to lead, structure a team and manage external advisors without close supervision
• Fluent German and based in GermanyDesirable Experience
• Strong English
• Group consolidation across several entities, including international subsidiaries
• Experience of a first audit, a corporate restructure or funding-round due diligence
• A software, SaaS or public-sector contracting background, and IFRS exposureWhat This Role Is Not

• Not a pure oversight role; the team is small, so you will be in the detail while you buildPackageSalary: €110,000 to €125,000
