Head of Finance

Role OverviewAs a leading logistics provider across sub-Saharan Africa, Alistair Group is seeking an experienced Head of Finance to oversee all financial operations for our Mozambique branch. You will lead a dedicated finance team, ensure strict compliance with local regulations, and partner directly with the Group CFO to drive operational efficiency and growth. Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Leadership: Manage all financial accounting functions for Mozambique operations, including Treasury, Payroll, General Accounting, Taxation, and Cost Control. Reporting & Forecasting: Produce highly accurate financial reports to strict deadlines, including annual budgets, bi-annual forecasts, monthly management accounts, and weekly cash flows. Month-End Close: Ensure a seamless and accurate month-end close process, validating balances, reconciling transport trips, and scheduling postings. Compliance & Audit: Serve as the primary contact for local Revenue Authorities. Manage annual statutory audits to ensure audited financials are signed off and filed on time with zero exposure to the company. Internal Controls: Oversee and enforce the company’s Finance, Procurement, and Administration policies and procedures. Team Management: Lead, mentor, and develop local finance staff, driving retention and performance. Qualifications & RequirementsEducation: Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration. A Certified Accountant qualification (ACCA/CPA/CIMA) is highly preferred. Experience: At least 5 years of relevant industry experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a similar managerial position. International exposure is a plus. Language: Professional fluency in both Portuguese and English to effectively liaise with local authorities and global Group management.Skills: Advanced proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (specifically Excel). Attributes: Detail-oriented, operationally resilient under pressure, proactive, and capable of independently managing and escalating complex issues.
