Head of Finance

Brief Description:Are you a commercially astute finance leader who thrives in a fast-paced operational environment? Do you enjoy partnering with business leaders, challenging the status quo, and driving profitability across multiple sites?Our client, a multi-branch group, is looking for an energetic, hands-on Senior Financial Manager/ Head of Finance to partner closely with the Managing Director and operational leadership team. This is not a traditional back-office finance role. We are seeking a commercially minded finance professional who enjoys being in the business, influencing decisions, improving operational performance, and delivering meaningful financial insights that drive growth and profitability across a network of high-performing branches.

Job Description

Lead the full finance function across a multi-site operation, providing strategic financial leadership and direction.Deliver insightful monthly management accounts, branch performance packs, and executive reporting that supports decision-making.Partner with branch managers to improve profitability, productivity, labour recovery, cost control, and operational efficiency.Drive branch-level profitability analysis, identifying margin leakage and implementing practical solutions to improve performance.Own budgeting, forecasting, cash flow planning, and working capital management across the business.Develop and maintain executive dashboards that give management real-time visibility into key financial and operational metrics.Monitor and optimise WIP, debtor collections, insurer recoveries, parts margins, and revenue streams to maximise financial performance.Strengthen governance, financial controls, risk management, and compliance across all branches.Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing finance team, building a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.Act as a trusted advisor to the Managing Director, providing commercial recommendations, business cases, and financial insights that influence strategic decisions.Skills & Experience: Proven experience in a Senior Financial Manager, Head of Finance, Finance Business Partner, or similar leadership role.Strong commercial finance, management accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management expertise.Experience partnering with operational leaders to drive profitability, improve performance, and influence business decisions.Advanced Excel, ERP systems, financial reporting, dashboard development, and data analytics capability.Experience in multi-site, high-volume operational environments, with automotive, vehicle repair, workshop, fleet, manufacturing, or distribution exposure being advantageous.Qualification:CA(SA), CIMA, ACCA, BCom Accounting, BCompt, Financial Management, or equivalent finance qualification.For more information connect with us on www.communicate.co.za and Register your CV to create a profile and to view all our Financial recruitment vacancies.Let us assist you with your career.
