VC-Backed Hardware Start-Up | London£100,000–£110,000 + equity4 days in the office / 1 day WFHIdeal start: Before ChristmasThe OpportunityWe’re working with an exciting VC-backed hardware start-up that is entering a major phase of growth.With an excellent founding team, strong investor backing and ambitious plans for international expansion, they are now looking for a Head of Finance to take ownership of the finance function and become a key partner to the founders as the business scales.This is a role for someone who wants genuine influence. You’ll be close to the founders, investors and wider leadership team, helping shape the financial strategy of the business rather than simply reporting on what has already happened.The RoleAs Head of Finance, you’ll take ownership of the finance function and play a key role in supporting the company through its next stage of growth.You will be responsible for:Owning the overall finance function, including reporting, controls, cash flow and planningBuilding and maintaining robust financial models to support growth and decision-makingLeading budgeting, forecasting and scenario planningProducing high-quality management accounts, board reporting and investor reportingWorking closely with the founders on commercial strategy, growth plans and investment decisionsTaking ownership of cash flow, working capital and financial planningSupporting and leading future fundraising activityManaging relationships with investors, accountants, auditors, banks and external advisersSupporting the business through international expansion, including new markets and entitiesDeveloping scalable finance processes, systems and controlsProviding commercial insight across product, operations, sales and wider business functionsBuilding out the finance team as the company growsWhat We're Looking ForWe’re looking for someone who has operated in a high-growth, VC-backed environment and is comfortable working at pace with founders.Ideally, you will have:ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualificationExperience working within a VC-backed start-up or scale-upDirect experience of a Series A fundraise – ideally having been heavily involved in the processExperience supporting or leading further fundraising activityProven experience of international expansion, ideally setting up or scaling overseas entitiesStrong financial modelling, forecasting and FP&A experienceExperience producing board and investor reportingStrong commercial and business partnering skillsExperience building finance processes and controls from the ground upExcellent communication skills and the confidence to challenge and advise foundersIdeally, experience within hardware, manufacturing, consumer products, engineering or another product-led businessMost importantly, you’ll be someone who enjoys being close to the action and wants to have a genuine impact on a growing business.Why Join?Join a highly ambitious VC-backed hardware businessWork directly with an excellent co-founding teamSignificant influence over the direction of the companyOpportunity to shape the finance function as the business scales internationallyGenuine exposure to investors, fundraising and strategic decision-makingOpportunity to build and develop a finance team
