Head of FP&A | £Open | High-Growth Energy TechRemote - UK BasedWe’re partnering with one of the UK’s fastest-growing energy technology businesses to appoint a newly created Head of FP&A.This is a board-backed hire joining a well-funded, rapidly scaling technology company on a mission to modernise the energy market.The BusinessThis is a high-growth technology-led energy business using data, automation and AI to challenge traditional ways of operating within the sector.The company is tackling a huge market with a clear mission: to make energy simpler, more transparent and more efficient, while supporting the transition towards a more modern and sustainable energy system.Following a period of exceptional growth and significant investment, the business is continuing to scale its technology, product and commercial capabilities – creating a genuinely exciting environment for someone who enjoys the pace and complexity of high-growth businesses.You'll be responsible for:Owning and continually developing the company financial model end-to-endLeading the monthly performance vs plan cycleOwning budgeting, forecasting and scenario modellingMaintaining and improving cash runway forecastingDeveloping forward-looking financial and operational KPIsAnalysing business performance and identifying key trends, risks and opportunitiesWorking closely with teams across the organisation to understand performance and challenge assumptionsContinually improving forecast accuracy as the business scalesTranslating complex financial information into a clear commercial narrativeProviding senior leadership and the Board with the insight required to make better, faster decisionsImportantly, this is FP&A, not Financial Control.The accounting and actuals are owned elsewhere within Finance. Your role starts with those numbers and asks: What happened? Why did it happen? What does it mean? And what happens next?What We're Looking ForWe're looking for someone who has experienced what it means to operate inside a genuinely high-growth business.You'll ideally have worked within a fast-moving, regulated environment, with backgrounds across FinTech, Payments, Financial Services, Energy Tech or other regulated technology businesses likely to translate particularly well.You don't need to come from the energy sector.We're more interested in someone who understands how to maintain financial rigour, forecasting accuracy and commercial discipline while the organisation around them is scaling quickly.You'll ideally bring:Strong FP&A experience within a high-growth or scaling organisationExperience operating within a regulated environmentExceptional financial modelling capabilityOwnership of budgeting, forecasting and performance vs planStrong cash forecasting and runway management experienceExperience developing FP&A processes and reporting as a company growsA highly commercial mindset – you're naturally interested in the why behind the numbers, rather than simply reporting themConfidence partnering with senior leadership and presenting financial insight at Board levelThe ability to challenge assumptions and influence decision-makingComfort working with ambiguity and building processes that may not exist yetWhy Join?This is a chance to join a business attempting to solve a huge, real-world problem using technology, at a point where it is scaling exceptionally quickly.Rather than becoming another person within a large FP&A function, you'll become the individual who owns the company's financial model and planning cadence, with direct visibility across the organisation and at Board level.It's likely to particularly appeal to someone coming from FinTech or another high-growth regulated business who enjoys the pace and complexity of that environment but wants to apply their experience to a new industry with a clear mission and enormous market opportunity.
