This is a great opportunity to partner with the leadership team to guide the IT function at a well-established, small-to-midsize consumer products company with more than 30 years of industry experience. As Head of IT, you'll work directly with the leadership team to shape our technology roadmap — starting with the rollout of our newly selected, cloud-based ERP and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) platform. This is a working-manager role: you'll set and execute IT strategy, lead and manage a small IT team, and remain hands-on with systems administration, integrations, and development work alongside them. You'll lead the rollout end-to-end, from planning and configuration through data migration, testing, training, and adoption, while ensuring our broader technology environment is secure and reliable. This role owns the balance between building a technology foundation that supports the company's needs today and near-term growth, doing so in a cost-effective, right-sized way — avoiding both under-investment and unnecessary overhead. What You Will OwnYou will be the person leadership turns to for the technology roadmap, and the one leading our newly selected, cloud-based ERP and PLM rollout from the ground up.IT Strategy & Leadership- Set and continuously refine IT strategy and roadmap that aligns with business priorities and near-term goals- Evaluate technology investments (build vs. buy, on-prem vs. cloud, tooling consolidation) with a clear eye on total cost of ownership- Serve as the primary technology advisor to executive leadership, translating business needs into practical, well-scoped IT initiatives- Establish IT policies, standards, and security practices appropriate for our size and risk profilePLM & ERP Rollout- Lead the rollout of our already-selected, web-based, cloud ERP and PLM platform end-to-end: project planning, configuration, data migration, testing, training, and go-live- Own the project timeline, budget, and risk management for the rollout, coordinating closely with product development, merchandising, finance, operations, and supply chain- Ensure the systems integrate cleanly with existing tools and EDI trading-partner workflows- Drive user adoption post-launch, including documentation, training, and ongoing optimizationSystems Administration & Infrastructure- Personally administer and maintain core systems, servers, network, and cloud infrastructure alongside the IT team- Manage backups, disaster recovery, patching, and endpoint security across the environment- Maintain and troubleshoot day-to-day IT operations, escalating and resolving issues directly when needed given the team's sizeEDI & Integrations- Own EDI infrastructure and trading-partner relationships, including mapping, onboarding new partners, and troubleshooting transaction issues (e.g., 850, 856, 810, and related document types)- Design and maintain integrations between EDI, ERP, PLM, and e-commerce/warehouse systems to ensure clean, reliable data flowSoftware Development- Contribute hands-on to development work across the full lifecycle, from ideation and technical design through implementation, testing, and deployment, for internal tools, integrations, and automation- Set development standards and review the team's code and technical decisions where applicable- Help use AI to develop solutions to reporting and process challenges- Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve system efficiencyTeam Leadership- Manage, mentor, and grow a small team of direct reports, setting priorities and providing hands-on technical guidance- Model a working-manager approach: plan and delegate strategically while remaining an active contributor on critical or urgent technical work- Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and managed service providers as needed to supplement the core teamWhat We Are Looking For- 10+ years of progressive IT experience (or equivalent demonstrated expertise), including 3 to 5 years in a leadership role, with proven success as a hands-on working manager who sets strategy while staying technically hands-on- Demonstrated experience leading or playing a lead role in a web-based ERP and/or PLM rollout, from planning through go-live- Strong systems administration background (servers, networking, cloud infrastructure, security fundamentals)- Hands-on EDI experience, including mapping, partner onboarding, and troubleshooting standard transaction sets- Working software development experience, with the ability to scope, build, and support integrations or internal tools- Strong vendor management and communication skills, able to manage budgets and outside partners while translating technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders and executivesBonus points for experience in apparel, consumer products, licensed merchandise, or a similar product-driven industry, familiarity with common PLM and ERP platforms used in product or apparel businesses, or experience building and scaling IT functions within a small or mid-sized company.Our StackMicrosoft 365, Azure AD / Entra ID, Windows and macOS, Alvao ITSM, Claris FileMaker, Claude AI and Google Gemini, PowerShell and Python, Apparel Magic, Power Automate, VMware ESXi, Synology NAS, cloud-based ERP and PLM (new rollout), EDIWhy You Will Love It Here Meaningful influence: evaluate our existing systems and programs and help shape what gets modernized, consolidated, or replaced as we invest in our IT foundation.
