Head of Innovation & Technology

Wurth professional solutions is expanding its role from industrial supplier to technology-enabled solutions partner. Its innovation direction combines robotics, artificial intelligence, automation and intelligent systems to solve practical challenges in construction, manufacturing, logistics, facilities management and other industrial environments. The Red Link robotics strategy focuses on developing and testing humanoid and quadruped robotic platforms for repetitive, physically demanding, inspection and operational tasks, while the AI function supports intelligent decision-making, computer vision, automation and future digital products.Role PurposeLead and build the WPS Innovation & Technology function, defining the strategy, organization and investment roadmap that transforms emerging technologies into practical, scalable and commercially relevant solutions. The role owns the overall Robotics and AI direction and is accountable for building the leadership and technical teams required to deliver it.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and execute the WPS Innovation & Technology strategy and multi-year roadmap.Build the department from the ground up, including structure, hiring, budgets, governance, KPIs and technical capabilities.Lead the Robotics and AI functions and ensure both operate under one integrated technology strategy.Identify and evaluate emerging technologies across robotics, AI, automation, computer vision and intelligent systems.Lead proof-of-concept projects, customer pilots and the transition of successful technologies into scalable commercial solutions.Develop strategic partnerships with technology companies, universities, research institutions, government entities and customers.Build business cases, investment plans and commercial models, and report progress and priorities to executive management.Qualifications & Experience15+ years of experience in innovation, technology, engineering, digital transformation, automation, robotics, AI or related fields.Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology, Computer Science or a related discipline; Master's degree, MBA or equivalent executive qualification preferred.Proven experience building and leading multidisciplinary technical teams and developing new functions or business capabilities.Strong track record of leading technology programs from concept and pilot through implementation and scale.Strong commercial understanding, including business cases, budgets, ROI, partnerships and technology commercialization.Experience working with enterprise customers, senior executives, technology partners and external stakeholders.Broad understanding of robotics, AI, automation, software, data and emerging technology ecosystems.Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, negotiation, communication and change-management skills.Experience in industrial, construction, manufacturing, logistics, infrastructure or related B2B environments preferred.About Würth Professional SolutionsWürth Professional Solutions is part of the Würth Group, a global leader in fastening and assembly technology with operations across more than 80 countries.
