Head of Laboratory & Cell BiologistAnse Royale, Mahé, Seychelles | Full-time, on-siteThe roleWe need a scientist who can also run the lab as a business for our Seychelles Medical Group. You will lead the lab from commissioning to full operation. That means scientific quality, regulatory compliance, the team, and commercial performance. You will report directly to management.Key responsibilitiesScientific & technicalLead the setup, validation (IQ/OQ/PQ) and accreditation readiness of the clinical and cell-processing labOversee the cleanroom (ISO 14644-1) and aseptic cell-handling workflows, including SOPs, environmental monitoring and GMP/GLP practiceBuild and validate the test menu across haematology, clinical chemistry, cytology and cell-based servicesKeep quality management to ISO 15189 standards: QC/EQA, document control, non-conformance and CAPALeadership & operationsRecruit, train and manage lab staff, and set up rosters, competencies and performance standardsManage procurement, reagents, inventory, service contracts and vendor relationshipsAct as the lab's contact with the Seychelles health authorities on licensing and inspectionsBusiness developmentOwn the lab budget and P&L, including test pricing, cost per test, capex planning and turnaround targetsBuild referral partnerships with public and private hospitals, clinics and insurers, especially for tests now outsourced abroadFind new services and revenue lines and write the business case for eachReport monthly KPIs on volume, revenue, margin, TAT and qualityRequirementsPhD or MSc in Cell Biology, Biomedical Science or a related fieldAt least 7 years of lab experience, with at least 3 in a management or head-of-lab roleHands-on cell culture and cell-processing experience in a cleanroom or GMP settingProven experience with GMP lab setup, validation and accreditation (ISO 15189 and/or GMP)Evidence of commercial results, such as budget ownership, business development or growing a client baseFluent English; French or Russian is an advantageWilling to relocate to Seychelles for the long termPreferredExperience with clinical diagnostics and cytologyExperience in private healthcare or a start-up or greenfield labExposure to regenerative medicine, apheresis or extracellular vesicle/exosome workWe offerCompetitive salary packageRelocation support and housingAnnual flights, health insurance and paid leaveThe chance to build a national-level lab from the ground up
