- Lead the medical and technical direction of all laboratory disciplines, including pathology.
- Own quality: SOPs, QC and EQA, audits, and accreditation (ISO 15189, CAP or JCI).
- Deliver turnaround time, cost per test and budget targets.
- Lead and develop about 80 staff through department heads.
- Grow laboratory revenue with Sales and Key Accounts: test menu, pricing, new services, and relationships with hospitals, clinics and corporate clients.
- Report performance, risks and plans to the Chairman.
- Keep the laboratory compliant with Vietnamese medical laboratory regulations. Result Sign-offThe Head of Laboratory signs off patient reports within the scope of their Vietnamese practising licence, together with our other authorised signatories. The Head of Laboratory provides medical oversight of all results.
- Pathology: the Head of Laboratory is the medical lead for pathology services (histopathology) and signs off within the scope of their licence.
- A valid Vietnamese practising licence is required for this role. Qualifications and Requirements A physician with senior laboratory leadership and commercial experience. Required
- Medical degree (MD, MBBS or equivalent) with postgraduate specialisation in pathology or laboratory medicine, ideally with hands-on pathology (histopathology) practice.
- At least 10 years in clinical laboratories, including 5 years leading a laboratory or major department.
- Commercial experience: at least 3 years owning a budget or P&L, pricing, or business development in a diagnostic company, laboratory network or hospital laboratory, working with B2B clients such as hospitals, clinics and corporates.
- Track record running a laboratory under ISO 15189, CAP or JCI accreditation.
- Valid Vietnamese practising licence covering laboratory medicine and pathology.
- English, spoken and written is preferred.
