Head of Legal

Role Description The Head of Legal will provide strategic legal guidance and oversight for the organization in a part-time, remote capacity. This role involves leading the development and review of legal policies, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and advising leadership on legal risks and mitigation strategies. The Head of Legal will oversee the preparation, negotiation, and review of contracts and other legal documents, and manage legal issues related to employment, partnerships, and platform operations. Day-to-day tasks include consulting with internal stakeholders, monitoring regulatory changes, coordinating with external counsel as needed, and establishing best practices that support ethical and compliant business operations.QualificationsStrong foundation in Law with experience applying legal principles to business and employment contexts.Proficiency in Legal Compliance, including monitoring regulatory changes and implementing appropriate policies and controls.Experience in Legal Consulting, providing clear, practical advice to leadership and internal stakeholders.Ability to handle Legal Document Preparation, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements.Demonstrated capability in identifying, assessing, and resolving Legal Issues across operational and strategic areas.Advanced degree in Law (LL.B or equivalent; LL.M or specialization is an asset).Experience in employment law, commercial law, or technology/platform-related law is highly beneficial.Excellent analytical, communication, and decision-making skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote, part-time setting.High ethical standards and commitment to non-discriminatory, compliant business practices.
