Head of Mechanical Engineering - Aviation FuelLocation: Dubai UAEThe RoleA specialist engineering business within the aviation fuel sector is looking for a Head of Mechanical Engineering to take ownership of the mechanical function across a portfolio of international projects.Based in Dubai, you will provide senior technical leadership across the full project lifecycle, from concept and FEED through detailed design, procurement, construction and commissioning.The role will focus on jet fuel hydrant systems, valve chambers, fuel storage, piping, pressure vessels and associated process equipment, while providing technical direction to the wider engineering team.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the mechanical engineering function and provide senior technical authority.Oversee mechanical design and engineering delivery across aviation fuel projects.Lead hydraulic analysis and pressure surge modelling for fuel distribution systems.Ensure compliance with JIG 1, JIG 2, EI 1540, EI 1584, EI 1585, EI 1597, ASME and PED.Review designs, calculations, specifications and vendor documentation.Lead technical input into HAZOPs, design reviews, FATs and commissioning.Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, vendors and contractors.Mentor and develop mechanical engineers.Support proposals, client engagement and the continued growth of the mechanical function.About You15+ years' mechanical engineering experience within aviation fuel, oil & gas, downstream, petrochemical or similar environments.Previous experience as a Head of Mechanical, Mechanical Engineering Manager, Principal or Lead Mechanical Engineer.Strong experience with jet fuel hydrant systems, fuel storage, piping, pressure vessels and process equipment.Strong knowledge of JIG, Energy Institute, ASME VIII, ASME B31.3 and PED.Experience with hydraulic analysis and pressure surge modelling.Proven technical leadership and multidisciplinary project experience.UAE/GCC experience highly advantageous.Mechanical Engineering degree; CEng or equivalent desirable.
