Airblox focuses on simplifying complex air cargo transactions while supporting more efficient and transparent supply chain management.The RoleWe're looking for a hands-on Head of Operations to own day-to-day execution across the business. You'll continue to build and lead the operations function, ensure shipments move reliably from booking to delivery, and create the systems, partnerships, and team that let Airblox scale with confidence. This is a senior leadership role with real ownership and direct visibility to the CEO and INOA Capital leadership.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational leadershipOwn end-to-end shipment operations, including booking, documentation, tracking, exceptions, claims, and customer deliverySet and hold the team to service-level, on-time performance, and quality standardsBuild scalable processes, SOPs, and playbooks as transaction volume growsCarrier and partner managementDevelop and manage relationships with airlines, GSAs, handlers, forwarders, and trucking partnersNegotiate rates, capacity, and service terms with carriers and vendorsManage vendor performance and resolve service issues quicklyTeam buildingCoach and lead an operations team, including operations associatesEstablish clear roles, KPIs, and a culture of accountability and continuous improvementCompliance and riskEnsure compliance with air cargo regulations, including IATA, TSA, CBP, and export/import requirementsOversee dangerous goods, security screening, and documentation standardsManage insurance, claims, and liability processesTechnology and cross-functional partnershipPartner with product and technology teams to shape platform features that improve operational efficiencyUse data and reporting to track performance, identify bottlenecks, and drive decisionsWork with sales, finance, and customer teams to ensure operations supports commercial goalsReporting and strategyProvide regular operational reporting to the CEO and INOA Capital leadershipContribute to strategic planning, budgeting, and expansion into new lanes and marketsQualificationsRequired5 to 10 years of progressive operations experience in air cargo, including freight forwarding, airline cargo, or a General Sales Agent (GSA)Proven experience managing and developing teamsStrong working knowledge of airfreight operations, including airline handling, AWB documentation, customs, and dangerous goodsEstablished relationships or working knowledge of carriers, GSAs, and forwardersAnalytical and data-driven, with strong problem-solving skills in fast-moving, time-sensitive environmentsExcellent communication and negotiation skillsBachelor's degree, or equivalent experiencePreferredFluency in Spanish, to support Latin America trade lanes and Spanish-speaking partners and customersBackground at a GSA, freight forwarder, airline cargo division, or air cargo technology companyExperience representing airlines in the sales, capacity, and yield management side of cargo, which a GSA background bringsAbility to leverage airline and GSA relationships to secure capacity, negotiate allotments and block space agreements, and improve rate competitiveness on the platformExperience in a startup, marketplace, or growth-stage environmentFamiliarity with TMS, cargo booking platforms, or logistics technologyIATA certifications or Dangerous Goods trainingExperience with US–Latin America trade lanesWhat We OfferComprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage through Blue Cross Blue ShieldGenerous PTO and sick leave to support work-life balanceEquity/ownership opportunity — as a key member of the leadership team, you'll have the chance to share directly in Airblox's growth and successPerformance-based bonuses tied to individual and company successGenerous parental leave to support growing familiesEmployee referral programRegular team outings and events to build a strong, connected cultureThe opportunity to make a real impact at a fast-growing, tech-enabled company changing the air cargo and logistics industriesWork Arrangement[On-site / Hybrid] in the Chicago area, with occasional travel to airports, carrier partners, and industry events.Airblox is an equal opportunity employer.
