Job Title: Head of Operations – Mining Logistics & FreightLocations: two position one in Kolwezi & Banana, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC)Contract Type: Full-time / Expat or Senior National or Regional profile Language Requirement: Fluent French & English (Mandatory)Role OverviewWe are looking for one of our client a Head of Operations, the ideal candidate will direct end-to-end multi-modal logistics operations supporting tier-one mining clients in the DRC.

This role oversees road transport, containerized freight, depot operations, customs coordination, and route management connecting inland mining hubs with deep-water/coastal corridors. The ideal candidate brings extensive ground transport expertise, strong leadership capabilities, and proven success liaising directly with Mine General Managers and Supply Chain Directors.Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership: Direct fleet movements, road haulage networks, container yards, and cross-docking hubs and coastal transit points.Mining Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the primary high-level liaison for mining site managers, logistics directors, and commercial teams to align delivery schedules, capacity planning, and bulk export/import strategies.Container & Ground Freight Management: Oversee full container load (FCL), out-of-gauge (OOG) mining equipment, hazardous materials, and bulk concentrate movements along key corridors.Contract & SLA Performance: Monitor transport turnaround times, depot dwell times, equipment availability, and cost metrics to ensure strict SLA compliance.HSE & Compliance: Enforce international safety standards, mine-site access protocols, local transport regulations, and border compliance mechanisms across all transport legs.Vendor & Asset Oversight: Manage relationships with specialized sub-contractors, fleet maintenance teams, rail partners (where applicable), and port handlers.Candidate ProfileExperience: Minimum 15+ years of progressive operations experience in freight forwarding, road haulage, container management, and heavy industrial logistics.Sector Background: Proven track record handling mining cargo (copper/cobalt concentrates, reagents, heavy machinery) in Central or Sub-Saharan Africa.Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of fleet telematics, corridor logistics, customs clearing interfaces, and container depot management.Languages: Full professional proficiency in both French and English (spoken, read, written).Leadership Style: Hands-on leader capable of navigating remote operational environments, mentoring multinational teams, and resolving high-pressure supply chain bottlenecks.
