Reporting to the Founder, this role is the first HR hire and will have full ownership of the People agenda. You'll be shaping the People function from the ground up, whilst keeping pace with a scaling business, bringing sound judgement to complex situations, and building simple, practical solutions that help the organisation perform.What you'll be doing:Leadership and organisation designPartner directly with the CEO on organisation design for the business's next phase — role architecture, seniority levels, structure, and costed headcountTranslate leadership review outcomes into development priorities and follow-through with individual leadersLead workforce planning ahead of expansion into new marketsEstablish the performance and manager-capability foundations the business will build onBring a commercial, business-first lens to organisation and leadership decisionsTalentBuild a forward-looking view of the capabilities and critical roles the business will need as it scalesDefine clear role profiles and assessment criteria ahead of every searchLead or support hiring for senior and business-critical roles, owning the employer brand narrative and candidate experienceRaise the consistency and quality of assessment and selection decisions across the businessBuilding a consistent performance cultureEstablish a simple, practical approach to setting expectations, reviewing performance, and giving feedbackDrive follow-through and accountability, coaching managers to address underperformance early and fairlyBuild manager capability in setting expectations, giving feedback, and handling difficult conversationsBring greater consistency to how contribution and potential are assessedScaling the organisation through changeLead role and organisation design as the business growsAnticipate the people and organisational implications of expansion into new markets, and build support ahead of needIdentify capability gaps and recommend solutionsSupport leaders through organisational change, maintaining clarity and engagement at paceProtect the culture that makes the business distinctive as it maturesYou'll own the core HR foundations any scaling business needs — employee relations, policy and compliance, pay and job levels, workforce planning, onboarding, and the wider employee lifecycle — along with a clear, simple view of capability, performance, engagement, retention, and key people risks.What we're looking for:Significant HR experience gained in a technology, fintech, payments, or other fast-changing growth focussed innovative industryExperience partnering directly with senior executivesStrong commercial understanding and the ability to operate independently, without a large HR team around youExperience working through significant growth and organisational changeExcellent judgement on talent, hiring, and performanceExperience coaching senior leaders through complex or sensitive situations
