Head of Platform EngineeringLondon | Hybrid£140,000 – £150,000 + 20% BonusWe're working with a growing financial services business looking for a Head of Platform Engineering to take ownership of the cloud and platform technology underpinning its products and services.This is a senior leadership position, but definitely not one for someone who wants to move completely away from technology.You'll lead the Platform Engineering function while remaining close enough to the technical detail to help shape architecture, challenge decisions and provide direction across a complex cloud environment.The business is continuing to invest heavily in its technology estate, with a focus on improving scalability, resilience, automation and the overall engineering experience.What you'll be doingLeading and developing a team across Platform, Cloud and DevOps EngineeringOwning the strategy and technical direction across AWS and AzureDriving improvements across cloud architecture, infrastructure, automation and reliabilityDeveloping the use of Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD and engineering automationWorking closely with engineering teams to improve developer experience and remove friction from software deliveryOverseeing integrations between internal platforms, applications and third-party technologyImproving observability, resilience, disaster recovery and operational readinessEnsuring security, governance and regulatory requirements are embedded across the platformWorking closely with Engineering, Architecture, Security, Product and senior technology leadershipEstablishing engineering standards and best practices across the wider technology functionAssessing new technologies and platform capabilities as the organisation continues to moderniseWhat we're looking forWe're interested in speaking with senior Platform Engineering leaders who have worked within complex technology environments.You'll ideally bring experience across:Leadership of Platform Engineering, Cloud, DevOps or SRE teamsStrong technical foundations across AWS and/or AzureModern cloud architecture and platform designInfrastructure as Code, ideally TerraformCI/CD and software delivery automationContainers and modern application infrastructureObservability, monitoring and production reliabilityCloud security, governance and operational controlsAPIs, integrations and distributed systemsWorking within banking, fintech, payments or another regulated environmentYou'll need to be comfortable operating at both levels: setting direction with senior stakeholders while still being able to get into the technical detail with engineers when required.The opportunityThis is an opportunity to take genuine ownership of a critical engineering function and have a significant influence over the future technology strategy.You'll have the opportunity to shape the platform roadmap, develop the team and influence how the organisation approaches cloud, reliability, automation and engineering standards as it continues to grow.Salary: £140,000 – £150,000Bonus: Up to 20%Location: LondonWorking model: HybridIf you're currently leading Platform, Cloud, DevOps or SRE teams and would be interested in hearing more, please apply or get in touch for a confidential conversation.
