Job OverviewThe Head of Procurement will be responsible for end-to-end procurement operations for construction projects, ensuring timely availability of materials, subcontract services, and equipment at competitive costs. This role is highly operational, working closely with project teams, site engineers, QS, and vendors to support day-to-day project requirements and meet delivery timelines.The role focuses on execution, cost control, supplier coordination, contract compliance and driving the transformation projects.Key ResponsibilitiesProcurement OperationsManage day-to-day procurement activities for construction projects (civil, MEP, finishing, infrastructure).Ensure timely procurement and delivery of materials, equipment, and subcontract services in line with project schedules.Review and process material requisitions (MRs) and purchase orders (POs) from project and site teams.Coordinate closely with project managers, site engineers, planning, and QS teams to avoid delays or shortages.Digital & Process TransformationLead the digitalization of procurement operations, including implementation of e-procurement platforms, contract management systems, and supplier portalsDrive automation of routine procurement processes (RFQs, purchase orders, invoice matching) to improve efficiency and reduce cycle timesChampion data-driven decision-making by establishing procurement analytics and dashboards for spend visibility, supplier performance, and cost tracking.Category & Sourcing StrategyRedesign category management strategy across key construction spend areas (materials, subcontractors, plant & equipment, logistics)Lead strategic sourcing initiatives to consolidate supplier base, improve terms, and build resilient supply chains for critical materials (steel, concrete, MEP components)Introduce should-cost modeling and value engineering practices to optimize project cost structuresVendor & Subcontractor ManagementSource, evaluate, negotiate, and onboard suppliers and subcontractors based on project requirements.Maintain a strong approved vendor and subcontractor database.Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and service levels to achieve cost savings and operational efficiency.Resolve operational issues related to delivery delays, quality problems, and site-related challenges.Cost Control & Commercial SupportEnsure procurement aligns with approved budgets and BOQs.Support QS and commercial teams with price comparisons, cost benchmarking, and vendor negotiations.Monitor price variations and coordinate approvals for deviations where required.Assist in finalization of subcontract agreements and supply contracts from an operational perspective.Contracts & ComplianceEnsure procurement activities comply with company policies, project requirements, and contractual terms.Coordinate with legal/commercial teams for contract finalization, focusing on practical execution and delivery terms.Ensure proper documentation, including POs, delivery notes, warranties, and compliance certificates.Inventory & Logistics CoordinationWork with logistics and stores teams to optimize material planning, inventory control, and site deliveries.Minimize excess stock, wastage, and site-level material shortages.Coordinate inter-site transfers where applicable to optimize usage.Reporting & Team SupervisionLead and manage the procurement team, ensuring clear allocation of responsibilities and timely execution.Track and report on procurement status, pending orders, vendor performance, and cost variances.Provide weekly and monthly procurement updates to management and project teams.Experience12–18 years of procurement experience in the construction industry, with strong exposure to project-based procurement.Prior experience as Procurement Head / Senior Procurement Manager handling multiple construction projects.Strong hands-on experience with materials, subcontracting, MEP, Civil, Facilities Management.Skills & CompetenciesHighly operational and execution-focused mindset.Strong negotiation, vendor handling, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple site requirements simultaneously.Good understanding of construction BOQs, drawings, material specifications, and project timelines.Practical, site-oriented approach rather than policy-heavy or strategic sourcing focus.EducationBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Supply Chain, or a related field.Professional certifications in procurement or supply chain are an advantage but not mandatory.
