Head of Procurement

We are seeking an experienced Procurement Head to lead all procurement activities for a large-scale greenfield industrial project. This role will be responsible for developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, supporting project budgeting and cost control, and establishing robust procurement systems and processes to support both current and future business expansion.Key ResponsibilitiesLead end-to-end procurement activities for project equipment, materials, services, and logistics, with a focus on major capital expenditure and project-related purchases.Develop and execute procurement strategies aligned with project budgets, timelines, quality standards, and business objectives.Negotiate contracts and commercial agreements to achieve optimal cost, quality, and delivery outcomes.Leverage foreign trade policies, customs regulations, and trade agreements to optimize sourcing and landed costs.Support project budgeting, cost estimation, and procurement planning activities.Identify cost-saving opportunities and provide commercial recommendations to project stakeholders.Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and service providers while monitoring vendor performance, quality, and delivery commitments.Ensure compliance with procurement policies, governance requirements, statutory regulations, customs procedures, and indirect tax requirements.Establish structured procurement systems, documentation, controls, and reporting processes.Drive timely procurement execution to support successful project delivery and minimize schedule delays or cost overruns.RequirementsEngineering Degree is mandatory; MBA or other postgraduate qualification is an advantage.15 to 20 years of procurement experience in large industrial or project-based organizations.Strong experience in sourcing project equipment, materials, services, and logistics for capital-intensive projects.Proven exposure to international sourcing, import/export regulations, customs processes, and trade compliance.Strong knowledge of contract management, supplier negotiations, procurement governance, and SAP procurement processes.Experience in project-intensive organizations such as Vedanta, Jindal, JSW, Essar, Adani, or similar industrial companies is preferred.Strong commercial acumen, analytical thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.Highly organized, process-oriented, and able to work effectively within structured approval and governance environments.Collaborative, proactive, and results-driven with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders and project priorities.
