As part of Aspire Zone Foundation in Doha, Qatar, Aspetar combines injury prevention, injury management, and performance enhancement through tailored programmes in fitness, nutrition, psychology, physiology, and physical training.Role Description The Head of Research is a full-time, on-site role based in Doha, Qatar, responsible for leading research projects and comply with ministerial laws. The role oversees the design, implementation, and evaluation of research projects, ensuring alignment with international best practices and the hospital’s clinical and performance goals. Day-to-day responsibilities include directing multidisciplinary research teams, mentoring researchers, coordinating collaborations with academic and sports organisations, and securing research funding and grants. The Head of Research will manage data governance and research ethics processes, oversee publications and conference presentations, and promote knowledge translation into clinical practice and athlete care. This role works closely with clinical, performance, and executive leadership to position Aspetar as a global reference centre for evidence-based sports medicine and injury prevention.Qualifications (READ PLEASE)Strong research expertise with skills in research related to muscle and tendon injuriesAdvanced Analytical Skills to design studies, interpret complex data, and translate findings into actionable insights.Proven Team Leadership experience, including managing multidisciplinary research teams and mentoring early-career researchers.Doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in sports medicine, orthopaedics, exercise science.Evidence of high-quality peer-reviewed publications and contributions to international research collaborations in the field of sports medicine/science.Experience with research ethics, study design, biostatistics, and data management in clinical or high-performance sport settings.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex findings to clinical staff, athletes, and external stakeholders.Demonstrated ability to secure research funding and manage budgets; familiarity with international accreditation and regulatory standards is an asset.Prior leadership experience in a hospital, sports institute, or academic research environment, preferably in an international or multicultural context.
