We are looking for an experienced Head of Short Term Trading to lead and further develop our 24/7 Intraday Power Trading Desk based in Prague. This is a unique opportunity for a senior trading professional who combines strong leadership skills with deep knowledge of European power markets. You will play a key role in shaping trading strategies, driving profitability, expanding the desk's market footprint, and leading a team of talented traders and analysts in one of the most dynamic sectors of the energy industry.What you will be doing:
- lead, mentor and develop a high-performing 24/7 Intraday Power Trading Desk
- define and execute short-term trading strategies to maximize profitability across European energy markets
- collaborate closely with quantitative analysts, data and market experts to identify trading opportunities and enhance decision-making processes
- drive the development and implementation of advanced quantitative models, automation tools and algorithmic trading strategies
- monitor market developments, supply-demand dynamics, weather impacts and regulatory changes to identify new opportunities, manage risk effectively
- build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, counterparties, exchanges and key market participants
- trade and optimize positions across European Energy Markets with a focus on Power, EUA and Options
- ensure adherence to risk management frameworks, compliance standards and regulatory requirements
- evaluate trading performance, provide strategic recommendations and continuously improve desk performance
- identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand trading activity, operational scale and revenue generationWho we´re looking for:
- master's degree or equivalent qualification in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering or another quantitative discipline
- at least 7 years of experience in power trading, energy markets or a similar trading environment
- excellent analytical and quantitative skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making
- hands-on experience with trading platforms, market data tools, and risk management systems
- knowledge of algorithmic trading, automation, quantitative modelling or systematic trading approaches
- experience in areas such as weather modelling, software development, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or data science is highly desirable
