Apply & track with Apply Edge🚀 WE’RE HIRING | HEAD OF ENGINEERINGWelcome Finance | West Delhi | Full-Time | 5 Days Work From OfficeAbout Welcome FinanceWelcome Finance is a London-based FinTech company helping UK businesses access tailored credit products through a technology platform that integrates seamlessly into the UK lending ecosystem.We are a globally distributed, high-velocity team driven by extreme ownership, zero bureaucracy, and a hands-on “learn by doing” culture.🔹 Role: Head of EngineeringWe are looking for a passionate and hands-on Head of Engineering to take complete ownership of the technology powering our loan comparison platform.You will architect scalable and secure backend systems, manage cloud infrastructure, contribute directly to critical code, and build and lead a high-performing engineering team.You will work closely with the Product Manager and Executive Team to convert business strategy into high-impact technology solutions.🛠️ Key ResponsibilitiesBackend Architecture & DevelopmentArchitect and develop scalable, maintainable and testable backend systems and APIs.Work extensively with Java, Python and modern backend frameworks.Design RESTful APIs and microservices for high-volume applications.☁️ Infrastructure & DevOpsDesign, secure and manage highly available AWS cloud infrastructure.Work with Docker, Kubernetes/Docker Swarm, Ansible and CI/CD pipelines.Ensure reliability, scalability and operational efficiency.🗄️ Database & Data EngineeringDesign and optimize MongoDB/Mongoose schemas.Manage data flows across core platform services.Optimize database performance and application response times.🔐 Security & PerformanceManage Linux/Ubuntu environments.Implement robust security practices, including IAM roles and permissions.Maintain high uptime, security and low-latency performance.🔗 IntegrationsBuild and maintain reliable third-party API integrations.Collaborate with front-end engineers to ensure clean and efficient data consumption.👥 Engineering LeadershipLead technical discussions and code reviews.Define engineering processes and development standards.Delegate effectively and mentor engineering team members.Actively participate in hiring and building the engineering team.🎯 What We're Looking ForCore Requirements8+ years of backend engineering experience in high-volume, data-intensive technology environments.Experience in FinTech, lending, credit or payments is highly desirable.5+ years of hands-on AWS experience.Strong proficiency in:JavaSpring BootRESTful APIsMicroservicesData Structures & AlgorithmsDistributed SystemsStrong experience designing, deploying and optimizing resilient, high-performance systems.Practical experience with:Linux/UbuntuMongoDBDatabase performance tuningCachingAsynchronous/event-driven processing⭐ Preferred ExperienceDocker & KubernetesEvent-driven architecturesHigh-throughput transactional systemsFinTech, payments, lending or credit platforms🧠 Mindset & LeadershipEntrepreneurial & ScrappyYou enjoy fast-paced environments, take ownership and are comfortable getting hands-on with technology.Collaborative LeaderYou have experience leading distributed and multicultural engineering teams with clear and transparent communication.On-Site EnergyYou are excited to work 5 days a week from our West Delhi office and collaborate directly with the core team.📍 Position DetailsPosition: Head of Engineering
