We provide investors with access to what we believe are the most transformative companies in robotics, many of which remain private and inaccessible through traditional public markets. RoboStrategy offers strategic, actively managed exposure to the long-term leaders of the category.RoboStrategy is managed by FP Strategies, its investment advisor. This position is employed by FP Strategies.More about us: www.robostrategy.coRole OverviewWe are seeking a Head of Talent & People to lead all recruiting at RoboStrategy and to own the people function that supports it. We are a small, fast-growing team building a publicly listed investment platform, hiring across investment, research, distribution, compliance, marketing and operations. We are looking for someone who has done this at a fund before and knows the market for investment talent. You will run every search at the firm, whether directly or through external partners you select and manage, and build the sourcing capability that makes us less dependent on them. You will also own people operations end to end, from payroll and benefits to compensation, performance and culture, for a remote team operating under the requirements of an SEC-registered investment advisor and a Nasdaq-listed fund. This is an entrepreneurial, hands-on seat: you will build the function from its foundations, adding support only as our scale justifies it. You will report to the Chief Operating Officer and work closely with the Chief Executive Officer. What You’ll Do
- Lead all recruiting. Own every search across the firm, from workforce planning and role definition through sourcing, assessment, references and close, and set a consistent hiring bar through scorecards, structured interviews and disciplined debriefs.
- Build a direct sourcing engine. Develop pipelines of candidates who are not actively looking, through your own network, referrals and platforms such as LinkedIn, so that most of our hiring happens directly.
- Direct our search partners. Decide which searches warrant an external firm, then select, brief and hold accountable the partners we use, manage recruiting spend, and track our reliance on outside firms over time.
- Make the case for RoboStrategy. Represent a first-of-its-kind platform to candidates who may be weighing us against larger, established managers, and close them on the opportunity.
- Own people operations. Run payroll, benefits, HR systems, the employee handbook, onboarding, offboarding and employee relations, working through our employment platform and external providers.
- Design compensation and performance. Build salary bands, bonus and incentive frameworks with the Chief Operating Officer, including structures for revenue-generating distribution roles, and practical approaches to reviews and progression.
- Carry the culture. Translate the culture our founders have set into everyday practice across a distributed team, and keep engagement and retention high as we grow.
- Operate within a regulated framework. Partner with compliance and legal on employment law across jurisdictions, pay transparency, background checks, and the onboarding obligations of a registered investment advisor and listed fund.Core Qualifications
- 4+ years of recruiting experience, combined with hands-on responsibility for people operations, including payroll, benefits, HR systems and policies.
- Experience recruiting at an asset management firm or investment fund is expected. Experience at a publicly listed fund or asset manager is strongly preferred, and experience with a 1940 Act registered fund is a plus.
- Candidates from high-growth companies or non-traditional backgrounds will be considered on merit, provided their record is exceptional.
- A record of hires you personally sourced and closed, including candidates who were not on the market, who went on to become strong performers.
- Familiarity with the roles a fund hires for, including investment, research, distribution and sales, and with how those candidates evaluate opportunities and compensation.
- Knowledge of the regulatory requirements that affect hiring at an investment advisor or registered fund, such as Code of Ethics onboarding, background checks and FINRA registrations, is a plus.
- Working knowledge of US employment law and remote employment across multiple jurisdictions, with the judgment to recognize when specialist counsel is needed.
- AI-native in how you work, which is essential for this role. You use AI daily to source and research candidates, draft outreach, and automate people operations, and you are fluent with modern recruiting and HR platforms.Ideal Candidate Profile
- Knows the game: has recruited for funds before and understands how investment firms hire, pay and retain talent.
- An entrepreneurial builder who wants to create a function from its foundations and is comfortable with the pace of a young, fast-growing firm.
- Genuinely energized by recruiting, including the sourcing and outreach work that many senior people step away from.
- Sound judgment on talent, and the conviction to hold a high hiring bar under pressure.
- A trusted, discreet partner who earns credibility by listening first.
- Genuine interest in robotics and frontier technology, and in extending our talent capability to portfolio companies over time.LogisticsReports to: Chief Operating Officer, working closely with the Chief Executive Officer.
