Summer Job:The Head of Treasury runs United Group's day-to-day treasury function and provides strong analytical and execution support to the Group CFO on funding, debt, and banking matters. Operating in a highly leveraged, capital-intensive, and commodity-driven environment, the role focuses on keeping the Group's cash and liquidity tightly managed, supporting the GCFO in managing and restructuring the Group's debt and banking facilities, and embedding sound cash management practices, controls, and reporting across all business units.Business & Situational Context:United Group operates across feed milling, commodity trading, and starch manufacturing. These businesses are working capital intensive, sensitive to raw material (grain/maize) price cycles, and reliant on a continuous flow of trade and working capital finance.The Head of Treasury keeps liquidity under tight control, gives the GCFO and leadership accurate and timely visibility of cash and debt, and ensures banking arrangements run smoothly day-to-day.Key Accountabilities:A. Cash & Liquidity ManagementOwn day-to-day cash positioning and management across all business units, including daily cash reporting, pooling/concentration, and disciplined disbursement controls.Ensure the Group maintains adequate liquidity to meet operational and debt-servicing obligations, escalating tight positions to the GCFO early.Optimize idle balances, reduce trapped cash, and improve intra-group funding efficiency.Manage bank accounts, mandates, and signatory arrangements.B. Cash Flow Forecasting & ReportingBuild and maintain robust cash flow forecasts (daily, 13-week rolling, and longer-range) with strong accuracy and clear variance analysis.Provide regular, decision-useful treasury reporting to the GCFO and leadership covering cash, liquidity, debt, banking limits, and facility utilization.Track covenant positions and headroom and flag issues to the GCFO in good time.Give early warning on funding and liquidity matters.C. Working Capital & Trade FinanceExecute and manage trade finance instruments such as Letters of Credit, guarantees, bill discounting, supplier/buyer finance, and commodity/inventory-backed facilities.Support procurement and sales cycles with efficient, cost-effective financing.Work with the business units to improve the cash conversion cycle and optimize working capital.Monitor facility utilization and ensure limits are used efficiently.D. Banking Relationships & Facility SupportManage day-to-day relationships and communication with banks and lenders at the working level.Support the GCFO in negotiating, restructuring, and refinancing facilities by preparing financial data, models, information packs, and lender presentations, and following through on agreed actions.Maintain a complete register of facilities, terms, pricing, security, and maturity.Coordinate documentation, sanction letters, security/collateral arrangements, and bank requests accurately and on time.Help broaden and strengthen banking arrangements under the GCFO's direction.E. Financial Risk ManagementMonitor the Group's exposure to interest rate, foreign exchange, and liquidity risk, and highlight material exposures to the GCFO.Execute hedging transactions within the framework and limits approved by the GCFO / Board.Manage counterparty and bank concentration considerations at the operational level.F. Treasury Operations, Controls & SystemsMaintain sound controls over payments, bank mandates, and treasury transactions to safeguard Group funds.Help develop and apply treasury policies, procedures, and approval matrices.Support the selection and use of treasury / banking systems (including any TMS) to improve efficiency and control.Ensure compliance with banking requirements, covenants, and internal governance.G. Team & Stakeholder SupportSupervise and develop any treasury analyst(s) / team members.Partner effectively with FP&A, Controllership, Tax, and business-unit finance teams.Success Measures:Accurate, timely cash forecasting and reporting relied upon by the GCFO and leadership.Well-controlled liquidity with early escalation of tight positions.Effective support to the GCFO on facility negotiations and restructuring (quality and timeliness of analysis and packs).A complete, accurate facilities / debt register and covenant tracking, with no missed lender reporting.Efficient day-to-day banking operations and documentation.Contribution to interest-cost reduction and improved terms, in support of the GCFO.Sound treasury controls, policies, and systems in place and operating.Qualifications & Experience:Professional accounting / finance qualification (CA / ACCA / CPA) or MBA (Finance); part-qualified candidates with strong relevant experience also considered.Treasury certification (e.g., CTP, or ACT qualifications such as AMCT) is an advantage.Typically, 8 to 12 years of finance experience, with solid hands-on treasury experience (cash management, forecasting, banking, and trade finance).Practical exposure to bank facilities, trade finance instruments, and covenant / lender reporting.Experience supporting debt / banking negotiations or restructuring (preparing analysis, models, and lender information) is a strong plus.Strong experience in cash and liquidity management and cash flow forecasting.Experience in commodity-linked, trading, agribusiness, or manufacturing sectors is an advantage given the trade finance and working-capital intensity.
