Apply & track with Apply EdgeOverview:We are looking for an experienced Health and Safety Officer to join the Al Hosn Festival Operations Team in Abu Dhabi.Reporting to the Senior Health and Safety Advisor, the role will support the implementation of health, safety and environmental arrangements across mobilisation, build, installation, testing and commissioning, de-rig and venue handback.The successful candidate will provide visible, shift-based HSE coverage on site, monitor contractor compliance, oversee higher-risk activities, identify and record safety concerns, and escalate significant or unresolved risks. This is a hands-on, site-based role requiring strong practical HSE experience in a fast-paced, multi-contractor environment.Duties & Responsibilities:Provide active HSE coverage based on planned activities and changing site risks.Monitor contractor compliance with approved RAMS, permits, HSE plans, briefings and site rules.Conduct regular inspections of work areas, access routes, welfare facilities, housekeeping, fire precautions, temporary electrical systems and pedestrian/vehicle interfaces.Closely monitor higher-risk activities, including work at height, lifting operations, hot work, temporary structures, plant movements, electrical works and testing.Identify unsafe conditions and intervene or escalate as required, supporting suspension of work until safe conditions are restored.Record inspections, non-conformances and corrective actions and follow them through to close-out.Support site inductions, toolbox talks, incident response, investigations, reporting and lessons learned.Monitor emergency arrangements, PPE, welfare, environmental controls and pedestrian/vehicle segregation.Coordinate with operational, technical, emergency, medical, security, contractor and venue teams.Review daily work programmes to identify high-risk activities, simultaneous operations and required HSE coverage.Support the protection of heritage assets and ensure appropriate accessible routes and emergency arrangements for workers and visitors.Complete documented shift handovers covering active risks, permits, incidents and outstanding actions.Participate in meetings, drills, readiness inspections and venue handback activities.Escalate serious or unresolved HSE issues and any activities that conflict with approved safety controls, authority conditions or venue requirements.Job Specifications:Minimum 3 years' practical HSE experience in events, temporary works, construction, fit-out, production or another comparable high-activity environment; 5 years is preferred.Demonstrable experience conducting workplace inspections, monitoring contractor activities, managing corrective actions and supporting incident and near-miss investigations.Practical experience with higher-risk activities, including work at height, lifting operations, temporary structures, hot work, temporary electrical systems, plant movements and permit-to-work controls.Recognised occupational health and safety qualification, such as the NEBOSH International General Certificate, or an equivalent qualification appropriate to the role.Current ADPHC/Qudorat OSH General Practitioner registration, or eligibility to obtain it where required.UAE HSE experience is strongly preferred; experience supporting Abu Dhabi events, heritage venues or complex multi-contractor sites is an advantage.Working knowledge of hazard identification, risk assessment, method-statement review, hierarchy of controls and management of change.Familiarity with the ADOSH-SF framework and applicable UAE and Abu Dhabi HSE requirements.Experience with workplace inspections, permit-to-work monitoring, incident reporting, evidence gathering and action tracking.Ability to interpret site layouts, logistics plans, emergency arrangements, lifting plans, inspection records and relevant equipment certificates.Valid first-aid and fire-safety training is preferred. Additional training in incident investigation, working at height, lifting operations, temporary works, electrical safety or ISO 45001 is an advantage.Strong communication, observation, judgement and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to intervene professionally when conditions are unsafe.Able to work effectively and independently in a fast-changing, multi-contractor environment.Able to produce clear and concise HSE records and reports in English; Arabic or other workforce languages are an advantage.Competent in Microsoft Office or equivalent reporting and action-tracking tools.
