MHA also aids member organizations in their shared efforts – both within the field and in concert with other stakeholders in the private and public sectors – to improve the quality and cost-effectiveness of health care services.Job Summary The Maryland Hospital Association has an exceptional opportunity for a qualified Regional Healthcare Preparedness Coordinator – Region V Health and Medical Coalition focused on the National Capital Region and Southern Maryland. This is a full-time, grant funded position through Fiscal Year 2027 (June 30, 2027) that has been in place since 2019 through the Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR) Hospital Preparedness Program (HPP). Position renewal is dependent upon the availability of grant funds. This is a hybrid position with the expectation that you will need to be able to work in Region V as well as the main office in Elkridge, MD periodically for coalition meetings, site visits with members, and events. Healthcare Coalitions seek to incentivize diverse and often competing healthcare organizations to work together to improve overall healthcare system preparedness. As a Preparedness Coordinator, you will play an active and significant role in preparing our critical medical infrastructure. You will also serve as the conduit between the Coalition, state government, and community stakeholders to lead and develop regional preparedness efforts. This includes, but is not limited to, facilitating coordination amongst regional partners, participating in regional and state-level projects and committees, coordinating emergency preparedness/response activities, and ensuring compliance with ASPR’s HPP grant regulations. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesGrants management – 40% of time Track and complete HPP grant deliverablesDevelop and recommend a procurement strategy based on regional gaps and needs Prepare and monitor the annual Healthcare Coalition budget Lead and manage the procurement of goods and services -Request formal quotations from vendors -Document procurement justifications according to HPP Procurement Policy -Manage the development and expensing of the emergency preparedness budgetBuild and sustain strong relationships – 20% of time Lead and promote a common operating picture and information sharing during operational disaster responses affecting the regionIdentify and maintain contact information for community response partners, coalition members, and other stakeholdersManage situational awareness and alerting functions via the Coalition Everbridge systemPlanning – 10% of timeCollaborate with regional leadership in the creation, development, education, training, and implementation of disaster plans that are in alignment with state and other regulatory agenciesReview and update regional plans Training and exercise – 10% of time Collaborate with regional leadership in the creation, development, education, training, and implementation of disaster plans that are in alignment with state and other regulatory agenciesDevelop a Coalition training and exercise plan Conduct Coalition training and exercises as necessaryEvaluate training and exercise events following HSEEP guidelines Administrative – 10% of timeDevelop reports and presentations pertaining to Coalition meetings, workgroups, trainings, etc. Lead and facilitate Coalition meetings, workgroups, trainings, etc.Develops meeting agendas, minutes, and attendance Inventory management – 10% of time Ensure operational readiness of all Coalition equipment to include, but not limited to, assisting with preventative maintenance and warehouse cycle countsCoordinate and monitor warehouse receiving and deployment Education and ExperienceBachelor’s degree or equivalent work experienceAt least 2 years of full-time work experience in health care, public health, grants management or a related fieldQualificationsCompletion of FEMA ICS 100, 200, 700, and 800 by start dateAbility to work independently, and meet defined goals, objectives, and deadlinesExcellent ability to communicate verbally and in writing to individuals as well as large groupsProficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPointProven organizational and operational skills, and a keen attention to detailMust be within commuting distance of your Coalition region and have a valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed within the region and to the corporate office, when required.Benefits The Maryland Hospital Association offers our employees a low-cost, comprehensive benefits package (health, dental, vision insurance), a 401(k) with employer-matching contributions, and more.EEO Statement MHA is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
