Heavy Diesel Mechanic / Plant FitterSalary: €48,000 - €60,000 Per Annum (Dependent on experience)Hours: 45 hour weekLocation: Dublin & Donegal (Field & Workshop)Job Type: Full-time | PermanentAccommodation can be arrangedOverviewWe are seeking an experienced Diesel Plant Fitters to join a busy and growing operation in Dublin and in Donegal. This role focuses on the maintenance, repair, and servicing of heavy plant equipment, ensuring minimal downtime while maintaining full compliance with health, safety, and regulatory standards.Key ResponsibilitiesCarry out routine servicing, maintenance, and inspections on plant machineryDiagnose faults across diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and mechanical componentsPerform repairs on engines, transmissions, braking systems, pumps, and hydraulicsRespond to breakdowns and complete on-site (field) repairs as requiredMaintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and job sheetsPrepare plant machinery for hire, deployment, or operational useWork both within the workshop and at external customer sitesEnsure all work complies with Irish health & safety regulations and industry standardsProvide support and guidance to junior fitters or apprentices when requiredRequirementsRelevant trade qualification (e.g. Plant Fitter, Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Plant Mechanic)Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a plant, HGV, or heavy equipment environmentStrong technical knowledge of: Diesel engines, Hydraulic systems Diagnostics and fault findingFull, clean driver’s license (essential)Ability to work independently and under pressureDesirable Skills & ExperienceExperience working with construction or quarry plant equipmentWelding and fabrication skillsFamiliarity with diagnostic software and telematics systemsKey SkillsStrong problem-solving and fault-diagnosis abilityExcellent mechanical aptitudeHigh level of attention to detailGood communication skills, particularly in field-based environments
