Heavy Equipment Hydraulic Specialist

The Heavy Equipment Hydraulic Specialist is responsible for the advanced diagnosis, troubleshooting, repair, and overhauling of complex hydraulic systems and components on heavy construction machinery. This role ensures optimal machine performance, safety, and minimal downtime. While working across various heavy equipment brands, a strong specialization and technical familiarity with Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) is highly preferred. Additionally, the role requires integrated knowledge of electrical systems to effectively diagnose modern, electro-hydraulic machinery.

Duties and Responsibilities

Diagnostic Troubleshooting: Perform advanced diagnostics on complex hydraulic and electro-hydraulic systems to identify, isolate, and repair technical faultsComponent Overhauling: Disassemble, inspect, repair, rebuild, and reassemble heavy-duty hydraulic components, including pumps, motors, control valves, cylinders, and steering systemsSchematic Interpretation: Read, interpret engineering drawings, complex hydraulic and electrical circuit diagramsElectrical Integration: Diagnose and repair electrical faults related to hydraulic control systems, including wiring harnesses, sensors, solenoids, and electronic control units (ECUs)Preventative Maintenance: Execute scheduled maintenance, system flushes, pressure testing, and calibrations to maximize equipment lifespan and operational safetyDocumentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, parts used, diagnostic readings, and repair times using the company's asset management software and the ability to write professional reportsSkills and Competencies:Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of fluid power principles, closed-loop systems, and proportional valvesElectrical Proficiency: Strong fundamental understanding of DC electrical circuits, digital multimeter usage, and reading electrical schematicsAnalytical Thinking: Exceptional problem-solving skills with the ability to trace multi-system faults (mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical interfaces)Precision Tools: Proficient in using specialized diagnostic tools, flow meters, pressure gauges, and electronic calibratorsSafety & Compliance: Thorough understanding of workshop safety practices, hazard identification, and proper disposal of hazardous fluidsRequirementsEducation: Diploma or technical certification in Mechanical Engineering, Experience: Minimum of five years of hands-on experience as a hydraulic technician working with heavy construction equipment (e.g., excavators, wheel loaders, articulated haulers)Brand Specialization: Proven track record working with Volvo Construction Equipment (Volvo CE) systems and software (e.g., Volvo Tech Tool) is strongly preferredCertifications: Certified Fluid Power Hydraulic Specialist (CFPHS) or equivalent industry certification is highly advantageousPhysical RequirementsAbility to lift heavy components and work in restricted or awkward physical positionsCapability to work in diverse environment conditions, including both workshop settings and outdoor field locations
