The organization values rigorous research, technical excellence, and continuous learning, providing team members with opportunities to work on high-impact, future-oriented projects.Role Description The Embedded Systems Engineer – Drones will design, develop, and optimize embedded software and firmware for drone platforms, focusing on reliability, performance, and safety. Day to day responsibilities include integrating sensors and hardware components, implementing control algorithms, debugging and testing embedded systems, and collaborating with cross functional teams such as hardware, software, telecom and research engineers. The role also involves documenting system designs, participating in code reviews, and supporting the deployment and maintenance of drone related solutions. This is a full-time, on site / hybrid role based in Islamabad, requiring regular coordination with team members and hands-on work with drone hardware.Requirements — any one is a must, more than one is good to haveEmbedded C or C++ (preferably C) and direct hardware controlEmbedded Linux: file systems, kernel/driver basics, Yocto or BuildrootFPGA development: Vivado/Vitis, Xilinx UltraScale experienceApplied AI / computer vision: PyTorch, YOLO-class detection, OpenCV, and deploying models to edge hardware (TensorRT, ONNX, quantization, Vitis AI)Drone stack: MAVLink, PX4 or ArduPilot, ROS 2, and real flight-test experienceTelecom / connectivity: LTE/5G modem integration on embedded Linux (Quectel/SIMCom-class), SIM/APN/VPN setup, MQTT or REST/gRPC to a serverNice to haveAlgorithm developmentBasic physics and maths (link budgets, geometry, coordinate transforms)GNSS/RTK, camera calibration, and coordinate reference systems (WGS84, UTM, EPSG)Photogrammetry or SLAM tools (OpenDroneMap, COLMAP, Pix4D) or LiDAR/point-cloud processingUnderstands the bigger problem and can break it into multiple small problemsTeam interaction and clear communication across hardware, software, and AIAny RF knowledge is a plus — antennas, spectrum, regulatory/type approvalServer-side experience (Linux, Docker, PostgreSQL/PostGIS, GPU inference)Remote-pilot certification (KOCA/MOLIT or PCAA)How to apply Send your CV and a short description of an embedded, drone, FPGA, or AI project you built — what it did, what broke, and what you learned — to [hr@genesislab.com].
