Job PurposeTo supervise and ensure the smooth and effective functioning of Housekeeping (HK) and Patient Care Assistant (PCA) services in the hospital. The Supervisor / Executive will be responsible for manpower deployment, cleanliness, patient support services, discipline, safety, quality standards, and coordination with hospital departments. 3. Key Responsibilities A. Housekeeping OperationsSupervise daily housekeeping activities across assigned hospital areas.Ensure proper cleaning and sanitation of patient rooms, wards, OT areas, corridors, washrooms, waiting areas and other assigned areas.Ensure cleaning is carried out as per hospital standards and prescribed SOPs.Monitor the use and availability of cleaning materials, chemicals, equipment and consumables.Ensure proper handling and storage of housekeeping chemicals and equipment.Conduct regular inspections and take corrective action wherever required.Ensure proper waste collection, segregation and disposal as per hospital guidelines.Maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards at all times. B. PCA / Patient Care ServicesSupervise PCA staff deployed in wards and patient-care areas.Ensure proper assistance to patients as instructed by hospital nursing staff.Monitor patient shifting, wheelchair/stretcher assistance and other assigned support activities.Ensure PCA staff follow hospital discipline, safety and infection-control practices.Coordinate with nursing staff regarding PCA requirements and deployment.Monitor staff behaviour and ensure courteous communication with patients and attendants.Immediately report any patient-related incident or complaint to the concerned authority. C. Manpower ManagementPrepare daily manpower deployment and duty allocation.Ensure adequate manpower availability in all assigned areas.Monitor attendance, absenteeism, late coming and shift changes.Arrange replacement manpower in case of absenteeism or emergencies.Maintain daily attendance and deployment records.Ensure staff report for duty in proper uniform and with required ID cards.Monitor staff discipline and performance. D. Quality & Hospital ComplianceEnsure compliance with hospital SOPs, safety procedures and infection-control requirements.Follow applicable NABH and hospital quality standards relevant to housekeeping and patient-care services.Conduct regular rounds and inspections.Maintain inspection checklists and records.Identify service gaps and implement corrective actions.Support internal and external audits when required.Ensure proper documentation of all activities. E. Staff TrainingConduct regular briefing and toolbox meetings for HK and PCA staff.Train employees on cleaning procedures, patient handling, infection control, safety and hospital etiquette.Ensure new employees receive proper induction and on-the-job training.Maintain training and attendance records. F. Complaint & Issue ManagementAttend to complaints related to housekeeping and PCA services promptly.Coordinate with hospital staff to resolve service issues.Escalate serious complaints or incidents to the Facility Manager / Hospital Administration.Maintain records of complaints and corrective actions taken. G. Inventory & Material ControlMonitor housekeeping materials, consumables, PPE and other required items.Maintain stock records and ensure timely replenishment.Avoid unnecessary wastage and ensure proper utilization of materials.Report shortages, damages or equipment breakdowns to the concerned authority. 4. Daily ActivitiesCheck staff attendance and deployment.Conduct morning and periodic rounds.Verify cleanliness of assigned areas.Check PCA deployment and patient-support activities.Ensure availability of required manpower and materials.Brief staff regarding daily requirements.Attend to complaints and operational issues.Update supervisors / management regarding important issues.Maintain daily reports, checklists and records. 5. Required SkillsGood communication and interpersonal skills.Leadership and team-management ability.Basic knowledge of hospital housekeeping operations.Basic understanding of infection control and hospital hygiene.Ability to manage manpower and shift deployment.Problem-solving and decision-making skills.Basic computer knowledge for maintaining reports and records.Ability to work in a hospital environment and handle urgent situations professionally. 6. Qualification & ExperienceMinimum 12th Pass / Graduate preferred.Diploma or certification in Hospital Administration / Facility Management / Hospitality will be an advantage.Minimum 2–3 years of relevant experience in hospital housekeeping, PCA, facility management or a similar healthcare environment.Experience in supervising a team will be preferred. 7.
